So I just impulsively decided to create a discord server for anyone who wants to find any other active Merlin fans. 

In this server you can:

Share your art

Share any Merlin memes you found funny or created

Provide any fanfiction recommendations or ask for help in finding a specific fic (since I believe most accounts created for this died out)

Find a roleplay partner

Advertise your store and open commissions if needed!

This server has a little bit of everything. Especially with everything going on in the world, I figured that people needed something positive. A place to show off your skills and make friends. Can't get this part out of my mind because I still cannot grasp the combination of apathy and ignorance/denial that people with these greetings must contain

I know I'm a history nerd, but every Belgian studied about what Belgium did to the Congo, every Belgian kid sat in class and heard about the cut limbs and saw the footage of corpses and was told that it was all just so Belgium could extract rubber and sell it.

That's just Belgians, extrapolate for the rest.

But somehow, after 12 years of education, it's somehow still hard to grow from the same mindsets as their forefathers?

12 years of education and a so called better world but brown, black people are still too barbarian to be able to manage their countries as good as we white westerners can because we're just so special and we only fucked up with the wars and colonialism but that's over anyway. That's a past, bury it, forget it, it's over, you can't smell its rotten corpse because you're used to it anyway.

And the economy? Well it's just miraculously bad, it's probably the fault of the Syrian refugees who ruined their country and now steal our jobs, it's just because we're not working hard enough, it's just stolen opportunities.

Also, weren't the Morrocans supposed to leave everything behind, come and slave off to help rebuild what we destroyed and then go back home? Why are they still here? Why are their kids deserving of any hope in their future?

Anyway, never again, we now respect jews, white gay people can live in peace and animals have rights.

And people of color? Well, we like their food, we like their countries as cheap holidays getaways to remember how lucky we are or to get a cheaper version of Greece or Italy because our countries are worth more so we'll haggle with them anyway. And yes, their history is rich, their culture so beautiful exotic special, to add to our superiority with intellect so we talk about it in cocktail parties back at home as concepts and not flesh. Because when we're back home the blue city is poetry, Tangier ia so pretty and its diaspora are just uncivilized kids ruining our country. Cut their roots off and they're savages and the blue city is not where they're from. Cut their roots and their history, forget where they came from and why they'd act this way and break them down into pieces before you ever consider a look in the mirror.

so, I'm trying to research how tv/movies are sometimes made in a way that makes them feel so realistic and other times they just act like they're in a tv show. Like, sometimes you're just watching people do and experience things, but ofc it's edited and has background music. Other times, you've got weird cut scenes with a whole set for just a thought and then you cut back to reality, and the characters don't act like anyone in real life yk?

But i need help, because i absolutely have no idea of any terminology within the film world and idk how to start researching this

So: anything you comment is useful, thoughts, words, ideas, sources, anything to help me know what to even type to begin with
