What are your thoughts on Skye's newer songs?

Awww yessss, Shoots is a good one!!
And yep, I have been keeping up with Skye's new releases! I'm especially taken with (read: listened on repeat for days) Ache, and of course I've spent some time thinking about how it fits with my Time Buddies.
The song itself starts out so gentle, it's sort of nostalgic and aching and hopeful all in one go. It, paired with the lyrics, automatically made me think of Reg, specifically their feelings after the big fallout with Gabbro in the Grove, and then later, the emotional impact of finding out what Gabbro tried to do.
Something I have wanted to explore (but might not have the drive or time to) is Reg's emotional metamorphosis after the loops, especially in relearning to deal with fear and vulnerability. In Noise, I showed how Reg started using anger as a way to cope with those challenges, and it worked for a while; The rage burned hot enough to drown out things like fear and doubt and uncertainty. It was louder than the noise, becoming a vector for action and clarity of thought. It protected them from the pain of disappointment and helplessness. But it was also nearly their undoing, especially when that rage turned inward after the loops.
Stepping back into their vulnerability and allowing themself to let go and grieve was what helped them to be honest with Gabbro and accept Gabbro's own weaknesses in the later chapters of Refraction. It's why we still have a Reg who, despite their trauma and many foibles (gullible, clumsy, air-headed) is still willing to give all of themself for the sake of others (as opposed to, you know, having no Reg at all lol)

Long story short: Yeah, I think Skye's new songs are great 😁
If anyone wants a background music recommendation for the new Seekers of Soul chapter, I had "Fossils" by acloudyskye on repeat while writing most of it! 👀
