Who’s ready for an acne cream horror story?

Well, I guess it’s not really the acne cream, it’s more like the pre-acne cream. You know what, you’ll understand if you keep reading x’D

Anyways, I decided it was time to do something about the acne and small scars I have on my right and left cheek. Mostly my right. I personally don’t mind the bumps and whatever, to me it was the redness that pissed me off.

So I go to my doctor, my new female doctor by the way, love her already, and told her about what I wanted. She prescribed an acne cream for me called Benzoyl Peroxide and told me to put it on before going to bed. So just once every day.

Easy.

I go directly to the pharmacy and buy the cream. The pharmacists then asks me if I have a pre-cream for it, essentially something she describes as something which will open up my skin, pores and allow the acne cream to work even better. Being a very easy person to sell stuff to (cause I’m fucking naive) I buy the cream cause... I mean, it sounds logical, right? Buy a cream that’ll make the acne cream work even better.

I start using both as a nightly routine from Thursday evening.

By Sunday, I looked like a red tomato, my skin was extremely dry and it was legitimately painful.

I tell my mom about it, and she takes a look at me, and we both start googling and whatnot. But even without the googling, I knew that it was the pre-cream that was doing this to my face. Cause I stopped using it Sunday evening, and only used the acne cream on the “infected” places.

My skin, now Tuesday, already is way less red and I don’t feel like cutting it all off my skull.

The pharmacist was probably right about it making the acne cream more effective, BUT she totally and utterly failed to explain just how much it would hurt. And I think this is exactly why my doctor didn’t say anything about a fucking pre-cream, cause she knew how much pain I’d be in and I’m a young woman so I’m definitely NOT willing to walk around looking like someone who’s been sunburned in my entire face -.-

Would the acne cream work faster if I kept using the pre-cream? Probably. Am I willing to start using it again? FUCK NO! I’d rather that the actual acne cream due its magic and it taking forever than what I had to go through for just a few days while I was using the pre-cream.

Note to self: Stay away from Lipikar Syndet AP+, it’s not for me x’D
