SJM Couples—Imagery... And Finding Each Other

Has anyone noticed the vivid imagery associated with SJM’s leading couples?

How she draws comparisons between them—connecting them?

The last quote is worth discussing, especially considering Feyre’s earlier thoughts:

And is it just me, or do the words “found each other” contain romantic undercurrents?

Why didn’t SJM write, “if he’d found her”, instead?

Why did she create that beautiful imagery—bird of flame, lord of fire—and imply that Vassa was also looking for Lucien (without knowing it)? That they’d found each other?

This, again, creates a parallel between Lucien and Vassa, and SJM’s other leading couples.

Because if Lucien and Elain would have been endgame, Lucien would have been the one to rescue her from Hybern—the one to get her back, to find her.

Instead, it was Azriel.

And who else found each other?

I’ve always suspected that SJM was setting the scene for Lucien and Vassa, but rereading ACOWAR and finding this quote—knowing that they found each other, knowing that SJM intentionally worded it this way—makes it obvious.

Little theory: Rhys 🤝 Nes teamworking as cupid in the next book of the series

Rhysand is anti Elriel (also a Elucien shipper)

Nesta is a Gwynriel shipper

Now that Rhys and Nes patched the things up, I bet these two will work together as a team somehow to solve the problem with this little mess about the love square! It’s funny imagine what could happen, but I won’t get that far given that we all know SJM can be a bit unpredictable…

P.S: We may not forget Azriel’s shadows. They will team up with Rhys and Nes as well!!

The ACOTAR couples

Rhysand + Feyre: They have so many different personalities and faces that they can use easily, but only those closest to them that they love, will see the real them. Only with the inner circle can Rhysand show himself, truly. Feyre is welcomed into this family, and she too can be true to herself. She doesn’t have to play the sweet partner that will stand by his side like she did with Tamlin or the protector of her sisters. They’re both the perfect balance of warrior fighters and the diplomat, exercising both sides with impressive skill.

Nesta + Cassian: They are both warriors at heart. Nesta may not be as experienced on the battlefield, but she will go to the ends of the fucking world to protect those she loves, particularly Elain. Cassian is physically stronger, but he too will do anything to fight for those he cares for - there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the inner circle. They are so alike in this aspect. 

Elain + Lucian: Lucian has lost so much both his family and his friends, those close to him. He needs to protect those he loves now, he needs his mate. Elain isn’t utterly defenceless but she does need to be taken care of, while Nesta does fill this position (with fervour), Elain still needs this. Lucian needs to protect this new beautiful person in his life, and Elain can help him in this and can be taken care of in return.
