AcrossNightTerrors "I once thought you loved me"
“i thOught yOu lOvEd mE!”
“Then that was your mistake!”
“Then maybe this whole thing was a mistake.”
At the addition of another voice to their argument, Error and Nightmare looked up. Cross took another step forward, opening his mouth to speak again.
“Maybe this never should have happened. Half the time we’re together we can’t stop fighting. Maybe we should just stop.”
With resolved anger on his face, Error turned away, but Nightmare looked surprisingly lost.
“We should just… quit? We should just throw it all away?” Nightmare spoke softly, almost unintelligibly, before raising his voice and hardening it in anger. “Fine then, if that’s what you want. We’ll just forget any of this ever happened.”
Before Cross could respond, Nightmare stormed off.
“That’s not what I want…” He murmured, and Error turned to face him, fury rolling off him in waves.
“thEn what us it that yOu want, cROss? why wOuld yOu suggEst bREaking up if yOu didn’t want tO?” Error snapped.
“Because I love you both, but I want you to be happy, dammit!” Cross snapped back, before sighing and letting his entire posture slump. “I want to stay together, but we’re always fighting and we never seem to love each other like we say we do. So if you two are unhappy, then I don’t want to force you two to stay together with me.”
“that’s…” Error stopped, slightly surprised. “that’s suRpRisingly matuRE Of yOu, cROss.”
“Yeah, well, don’t get used to it.” He crossed his arms and huffed, but despite himself, he smiled a bit.
“… maybE wE shOuld givE this anOthER tRy.” Error muttered. “i shOuld gO… apOlOgizE. tO nightmaRE. thEn maybE wE can all talk this Out.”
There, in the doorway, with a nervous smile on his face, stood Nightmare.
