i want to do readings for my friends/family, with and without them knowing the results. kinda just to check up on them and see how they're doing, but i have no idea how to ask my cards about other people. i also want to one day do readings for strangers. do you have any tips? like how you set up and what you ask your deck?
Thatās a really exciting step! The main thing with doing other peopleās readings is to ensure youāre temporarily disassociating your own energy to the deck and instead linking the other personās to it.
This will obviously depend on your own preference, but I will literally just start with my usual set-up;
I get myself into the right headspace, make sure Iāll be undisturbed, make myself some tea, cleanse myself and space (either with incense or visualisation), unwrap my deck and place the cloth on a cleared table and start placing all the items I need on it (deck, crystals, tea, candle, elemental representation etc.) while reminding them and myself of their purpose as a quick activation.
When Iām ready, I light the candle to activate the space and start shuffling the cards to quickly cleanse them, ridding them of any stale energy. How to shuffle is really up to what you feel works best for you!
So far, this is what I do before any kind of reading. For the next step though, when Iām about to do a reading for someone else that I know, I will just think about them as I shuffle the cards once I feel they have been adequately cleansed and āwoken upā. I might visualise this person sitting in front of me as I shuffle, and try to capture their main physical features and personality traits and then visualise this information as light energy traveling from my mind to the cards. Iāll normally chant their name and maybe even their star sign either out loud or in my head to help me do this.
This is actually similar for when Iām about to do a reading for someone Iāve never met. Iāll only ask anonymous clients for their initials and their sun sign and chant these as I shuffle, visualising light energy traveling to the cards in my hands.
I donāt spend too long on this step, I just keep doing this visualisation as I shuffle until I feel like the deck has formed a temporary ālinkā with this person.
Now, Iāll do their reading the same way I would do mine. This is pretty straight-forward; the only difference is obviously that instead of asking the deck about me as I shuffle, I ask about the other person eg. āHow does X feel about their current careerā.
Dont forget to keep note of the cards that come up, and donāt be afraid to take a quick photo if you want to give yourself more time to write out the analysis later!
Of course, when youāre done you can cleanse your deck from the other personās energy whichever way you prefer and carry on as you normally would!
I hope this answered your questions! One other thing that I will say though is to just go for it! I remember how anxious I was about doing readings for others; especially for clients Iād never met, and I felt like I had to have a lifetime of experience etc etc but itās not true! If youāre doing reading for yourself then thereās no reason why you shouldnāt be able to do readings for others. You are here to learn and gain experiences that enrich your life and the lives of those around you. So go for it! š
