Empowering Gen Z to step up in the face of the climate crisis. Working with leaders in business, education and policy to deliver intergenerational solutions.
So this is an awesome organization that I (somehow) just learned about.
Their goal is to help young people 1) deal with their eco-anxiety and 2) channel it into meaningful action.
They also do some really awesome work researching eco-anxiety and creating resources to address the topic.
If you’re looking for a way to get involved that is catered to younger people (they are focused on Gen Z but not limited to people in that age group--for example they have resources for educators to address eco-anxiety in their students) and acknowledges eco-anxiety this is a great organization to check out!
From the Force of Nature website:
“Force of Nature is a youth-led organization empowering Gen Z to step up, rather than shut down, in the face of the climate crisis. We believe the threat greater than climate change is our feeling of powerlessness in the face of it: and that the most effective underutilized tool we have is mindset.
We’ve worked with thousands of young aspiring change-makers from around the world: from Tel Aviv to Jakarta, New York to Nicaragua. Through our programmes, we help young people cultivate mindsets of agency, purpose and resilience; develop the knowledge and tools to be effective; and drive real solutions to the planet’s messiest problems.”

When we fall in love or start out in a career, can we be certain it will work out well? When contractions herald the birth of new life, is a safe delivery, or even the baby's survival, guaranteed? Life, in its richness and mystery, never offers guarantees of success. We don't let that stop us. Indeed, our awareness that the outcome is uncertain is what prompts us to prepare; it calls us to attention. Neither complacent optimism nor resigned pessimism has power to motivate us; they don't generate a hunger for learning or provoke our best response.

Guys, you do realise how much more good you can do if you tell yourselves it's actually not pointless and hopeless? It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, whatever you do! If you tell yourselves there's no point, then you won't do anything that will make a genuine difference. But if you tell yourselves that we can do this, that we're actually not screwed, then your actions will be different ones! All irrespective of what is actually the case. Don't look at the facts of the situation like they speak for themselves. They take on whatever meaning we give them.
Out for a lunchtime walk.
Who doesn't like pirates, spell casters, quests, and incredibly high stakes? While yes,, like other writers I wanted to leave my mark on the genre, but know how pretentious it is to think that I can actually do anything original or new.
The Shadow Phoenix Saga is a constructive pastiche of the Epic Fantasy genre. It employs so many of the tropes I love and uses them in a why I hope is cleaver and interesting. It is a mix of my favorite ones.
This is a hopepunk series that challenges the grimdark tropes that have seeped into the genre with active hope.
I can't wait to share this series with you.
