Vulnerability for Fae Women
As a Fae woman, I live in this weird liminal space, this odd combination of worlds, where as Fae, I know that if I show weakness, in the sense of showing being wounded, hurt, specifically by something which was intended to jab at me for a reaction, like, specifically something which isn't true, and hurts specifically *BECAUSE* it's not true, and yet someone is trying to make you feel like they *believe* is is... I cannot show that pain, that woundedness, lest it open the door for the vultures to pick me clean under false pretense...
The other part of that world is being a woman, and knowing that being able to show pain, hurt, having been wounded... is in fact strength... That's vulnerability, and that's strength, like... Sometimes people act weird when a woman's like "I appreciate your vulnerability," "I value vulnerability," "I seek out vulnerability as a positive quality in a partner," Like... OK, so you don't want to be vulnerable? Cool, enjoy living life like a man, IMHO. I'm not saying that women are
*ALWAYS* vulnerable, or that men are *ALWAYS* incapable, just that women more often seem to get that vulnerability is strength, that being able to say "that hurt" is strength, whereas men seem to have made up their own whole brand new definition for the word which means "defenseless"...
No... "Vulnerable" does not mean "defenseless..." Quite the opposite, vulnerability *WILL* defend you. It *MAKES* you strong. Being able to say "that hurt me," in the world *I* live in, in the "female zone," is strength. It *IS* a defense against a world which counts on you never speaking up and letting people think they're allowed to just walk over you over and over again as though you were some kind of mat...
Perhaps the trick is to learn to only *BE* hurt by things which are accurate, and just "Let 'em talk" when people say shit that's not true... Don't protest at all, just cut those people off and give them the silent treatment. Not even a saracastic "OK..." cause again, that's showing the wound, inviting the vultures... It's a balance, really... be vulnerable enough to show the truth even when it's uncomfortable, resilient enough to take the stones and arrows and just keep walking without paying a second mind to untruthful bullshit just cause it hurts to know that *some* people will just always paint an inaccurate picture of me to themselves, and *TRY* to do so to the world, just cause they have their own motives, and if trolls feed on breath, well... perhaps they can't have mine anymore...
Being a Fae woman is tough y'all. We literally eat our own wounded. Some would say this is just a human trait, if it is, then dang... We thought that was like... one of the ways y'all were better than us XD
