since this needs to be said:
not every angel/being who posts about wanting to worship wants to worship a deity over the internet or even an earth-bound deity at all.
posts about wanting to worship are not an invite to direct message or reblog promoting yourself as an option for worship. this is the same concept as: a woman posting a photo of herself is not asking for uninvited dms from men.
worship is meant to be a deeply intimate, personal, and complex relationship. on top of that, those partaking in worship need to tread carefully so that the relationship does not become abusive, manipulative, or harmful in any way. while a relationship of this caliber can sprout from a tumblr dm or reblog, it’s unlikely.
a fantastic way to explain how these relationships should be is by likening them to a BDSM relationship/dynamic. there needs to be clear, enthusiastic consent, strong boundaries that are clearly communicated, frequent check-ins to make sure the relationship is working for both parties, and most importantly: ongoing communication.
from my time on the divine side of tumblr i’ve noticed the culture around worship is extremely laissez-faire. it is overwhelmingly common for deities to post asking for worship, cold-dm others asking for worship, and even reblog others’ posts to advertise themselves as an option to worship. in my opinion, this is extremely inappropriate and not the way worship should be treated.
the last point i have to make might be controversial, but- worship is not something you should be asking for. what gods have ever asked for worship, historically? people worship the gods because they want to. they choose to worship based upon the qualities and attributes of the god.
something i think deities on tumblr should ask themselves before posting to ask for worship is “why would this person want to worship me?” if they can’t think of an answer, maybe they shouldn’t be asking for worship.
