okay i know i don’t talk about my tourettes on this blog but i just wanna say
i always feel so guilty for ticcing in public places because people stare or laugh,, so i suppress- but that’s the worst feeling in the world.. to me it feels like a bubbling sensation around your whole body slowly crawling up your throat and then it causes attacks for me after a long period of time.
but on another note, if you have someone in your life that has tourettes and you make them feel guilty, ashamed or made fun of because of their tics i hope you know i despise you and so do a bunch of people with tourettes. we can’t help it, even if it’s an inappropriate time.. we can’t help it. we’re trying our best.
So I have a tic disorder
I have had for two years now, but it only got bad recently. I’m pretty new to having them this bad, so I wanted to ask how should I approach telling people. Should I tell them immediately? Seems like oversharing, especially that they got a bit ‘quieter’ (I can go without ticcing for a whole evening now!). Should I just inform them when I start ticcing? Like: hello I did not just wink at you, it was involuntary. Or should I not even mention it and not draw attention?
My tics are mostly motor, some sounds and a whistle.
It’s not about what I’m most comfortable with, because none of this options are comfortable. It’s about what is most polite.
Ok so the psych's solution to my tics was to basically suppress them. Love it <3/s
Couldn't sleep tonight and my tics got way worse.
There's this specific one that was one of the reasons why I couldn't fall asleep. I'm so mad. I hate it. Basically it looks like this: I'm lying down, relaxed, and then my body just *spasms*. If someone saw me they might think that I have epilepsy. After like a second it stops tho (only to do it again later)
I was up from 1am do 6am I think. Hard to say
Ok now my mom is implying i can get rid of my tics through thinking,,
(hint: if i could i would not be ticcing)
A comperhensive list of my current and past tics:
Making a disgusted face (frequent)
Winking (frequent)
Moaning in this weird way (not sexual, its just like trying to say high pitched “m”) (frequent)
Making a cartoony sad face (new, rare)
Whistling (it used to be worse)
Moving my right arm (frequent)
Shaking my head up and down (v. frequent)
Sniffing (new, I think its frequent, but nos frequent as the others)
Spasms when i lie down (frequent but only when I lie down)
In the past:
Kicking the ground
Hitting myself in the head
Hitting sth in front of me
Hitting my leg
Saying “e”
Throwing my head to the left
This list was written, bcos I’m bored and also i want to keep track of how my tics change for my neurologist
Had to leave my art class early bcuz of my tics :( bad tic and bad redirecting day i guess
Some nice old guy on the bus complimented my drawings and told me to not give up on my dreams tho!! :D
