Hey all!! I e gone to the doctor and apparently i dont actually have tourettes, i was misdiagnosed

I dont even have actual neurological tics apparently

They were apparently ocd compulsions that i was unaware of, and my new meds for that are working wonderfully

I will keep the account here, as a reminder of these times for myself but i wont be active anymore

Love you all, and again, i hope people are nice to you about your tics, and that you guys live a good life alongside them <3

Ok so ive just decided to use this acc to talk abt stuff that makes my day better

So i went to a concert thingy where my boyfriend is gonna play (hes not playin until like an hpur later rn) and the lights and boise was too much so i went upstairs to get some air

And i started to have a panic attack (bruh moment) and the waitress brpught me napkins and such

Ive calmed down now and she came bacl again asking if i was ok

She said she tried to get me some free shots but couldnt but honestly? The fact that she cared enough to come by and check on me made me feel better

Anyways end of rant

Moral of the story is random ppl do care sometimes

Hey yall i know i said i wouldnt post anymore but,,

My tics have gotten less!!

They only happen a few times a fay now even tho ive gone off my meds

Still dont know the root cause for sure but at this point idc

Anyways to the point

Whenever i tic my boyfriend gives me a lil kiss and,, its so cute :,)

Its become a habit now and whenever i tic we either just lean in for a kiss of if we are too far away make kissy noises at each other

Look I get that we all want to relate to one another. I really do. But seeing people on my post about how shitty it is to exist as a visibly deformed & disabled person in public say things like "that's why i don't stim in public" or "that's why i'm scared to bring my cane in public" is just... You're missing the point.

Some of us cannot mask our disabilities. You can simply not stim if you can supress it in the first place. You can leave your cane at home if you're doing that already in the first place. A knee brace doesn't make you look like a "freak". You do appear abled otherwise.

I cannot. Many people I know cannot. I can't just "hide" my deformities and abnormal gait or convulsions to appear abled. I *need* my crutches everywhere I go. I can't supress my tics. Full-time wheelchair users exist. High support needs autistics exist. Schizospecs who cannot mask exist. People with William's Sydrome, Down's Syndrome and various obvious deformities exist. Little people. People with severe chemical burns or otherwise or scarring. People with Parkinson's, Tourette's, Huntington's, Cerebral Palsy, every disabled person who looks "abnormal".

We can't just "turn it off" like you. People WILL stare at us. Point their fingers at us. We have no power. They used to put us into freakshows. Not you. Not you who can hide your disability to "appear normal". That post was not for you to "relate to". I and many people are sick of many invisibly disabled people claiming they "want to look disabled" so they'd be "taken more seriously". It's not an invitation of you to declare you leaving your mobility aid at home or shit like that. It's not the damn same.

i just wanna share the things i tell myself when i’m out in public with active tics. i get really bad anxiety about what others think, but i’ve really been working on that the past few years, and repeating these things to myself helps =]

- I have just as much right to be here as anyone else.

- I am who I am, and other people’s thoughts do not affect me in this moment. (more of a manifestation but it works)

- I have no proof that any of these people are actually judging me. It could just be my anxiety playing tricks.

Or, if they actually are staring or judging…

- I cannot change the fact that I have tics. Whether a stranger approves or disapproves doesn’t change that.

- If they disapprove, that’s their problem. I am just existing in this space.

Easier said than done, but repeating these really helps <3

One hard thing about having tics is how you lose control of your own body, and how other people can actually take that control from you. I have a tic that makes me wave to people, and I did it at my classmate yesterday, so he waved back, which triggered my tic again, and eventually I had to beg him to stop because I physically couldn’t until he did. In that moment it felt like he had more control over me than I did, and that’s not a good feeling.
