How Geomembranes & Liners Prevent Environmental Disasters Protecting Soil

okay so you know how we're always talking about saving the planet? 

There are these unsung heroes called geomembranes that are LITERALLY doing that right under our feet and nobody even knows about them?? 😮

like, these plastic sheets (mostly made from something called HDPE) are the only thing stopping toxic garbage juice from poisoning our groundwater in landfills???

and they're containing all kinds of nasty chemicals at industrial sites that would otherwise be a COMPLETE environmental nightmare! i spent way too much time researching this but honestly it's wild how these invisible barriers are protecting us from silent ecological disasters every single day. 

They're in: 

- landfills keeping toxic leachate contained 

- wastewater lagoons (gross but necessary) 

- mining sites preventing heavy metal contamination 

- fracking operations (controversial but the liners help!) without these barriers we'd be in serious trouble 

- polluted drinking water, contaminated soil, and environmental damage that lasts for DECADES.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

              The Disney animated version is so underrated! It’s adapted from Victor Hugo's novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame features a book by Peter Parnell, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. The music is beautiful and has deep meanings that convey a story of love, acceptance, and the impact we can have on other people's lives. The movie and music is powerful, from the opening scene it’s obvious that this is no ordinary Disney movie. The songs tell of hell, harlots, witch burnings, lust, and it brings up a lot of social commentary. This is no ordinary disney animated film.                                      A staged production Inspired by the classic Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is an intimate, dramatic retelling of the famous love story on a grand scale, with a lush, emotionally rich score by Menken (Aladdin, Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid), with lyrics by Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin). This production may not be headed to broadway, but the cast album is to come out on January 22, 2016. This show NEEDS to be on Broadway, it is so inspiring and good that it’s right up there with Hamilton and as powerful as Les Miserables.                                                                                                                    Here’s the good news YOU can sign an online petition at Change.org to bring the musical to Broadway!
