Mini-review:

Well, that was quite the horrifying take on the Cinderella tale. Tbh, I expected the body horror to get a bit more hardcore, but at least the concepts and ideas it draws on are nightmare-inducing. Like, there's a major plot point that's seriously one of my worst fears. Beyond that, the production values are remarkable. The sets, costumes, prosthetics, cinematography and music are all stunning. And Lea Myren commits to the role wholeheartedly, turning in an unforgettable performance. When put together, all these elements make for striking commentary on the pressures society has always imposed on women. So yeah, The Ugly Stepsister can be a hard watch, but it also offers a lot of interesting and impactful ideas.
