So, when I was, like, 11 or 12 or so, I used to draw myself like this. This before the “Damp Owl” trademark, when my Youtube channel was ‘MegaAdam1000′ and my style - if you could call it that - was essentially bargain bin Eddsworld-meets-Family-Guy, drawn by some kid who knew nothing of the industry or what it takes to get into it, simply that he wanted in.
This was done in MS Paint, with a mouse, and pretty much zero comprehension of basic art skills like anatomy, color theory, basic character design. It’s a 12 year-old just drawing what he thinks “cool” is.
And I guess to me, “cool” was a red hoodie, a general “I’m so cool and sassy and funny” attitude, and.. some kind of anime haircut that, looking at it now, I don’t know what it was supposed to be?? Like, how do the physics of that thing even work? Like I get it, I was 12 and I couldn’t draw for shit, but I’m racking my brain here trying to figure out what I thought I was drawing? I didn’t even have hair like that, as a kid I had a generic buzzcut like all the boys in my school did, where the fuck did this thing come from?
At any rate.. I thought it would be funny to draw this 12-year-old rendition of Adam alongside the new and improved one. I like to think that 2008 Adam would be pretty stoked to see this.
The moral of the story is that we all start somewhere, we all started off doing cringe-worthy chickenscratch that was drawn in Microsoft paint with a basic computer mouse. Then you go to college for a few years, watch some YouTube tutorials, get a tablet, make enough drawings to fill the Grand Canyon, and.. you’re still not there yet.
But you’re a step closer, right?
Any idea when you'll likely be streaming next??
Maybe. I usually just stream on Picarto when I feel like doing so. When I’m actually adhering to a schedule, my stream would be every single weeknight. As of recent days, I’ve been streaming frequently, but have been content to work in private.
I will almost certainly be streaming later on, however, because I have some work that needs to be done. That can start anywhere from 8pm or 10pm or even midnight (EST). I don’t announce streams on tumblr, but sometimes I do on twitter.

Drew a cute readhead - I was testing out some pencils in MS5. She’s based on Christina Hendricks kinda.
Good evening.
What do you do to beat art block?
I don’t know. What even IS art block? Is it even real -- or is it just an excuse to hide not wanting to draw? A lot of people more eloquent and knowledgeable than me could talk about it.I guess I just... Draw. Or I don’t. I take it easy for a bit, and then I just draw anyway. If there are problems with the work of art - or my setup - I recognize those problems and endeavor to solve them. And then I just do it.
