September Writing Challenge - Museum
~Fluff~Bi/Baldwin/Male OC~
Baldwin's left eye twitched. He had been wandering listlessly through the various exhibits, taking a passing interest in various artifacts, until he came upon...that. He hadn’t been expecting to see that.
London was in the grip of Egypt Fever; the recent archeological digs uncovering relics and artifacts in the Valley of Kings only fed public interest in the ancient pharaohs even more. However there was still considerable interest in Greco-Roman antiquities.
The scent of apricots and tobacco pierced his concentrated anger as Martin slipped through the crowd to stand beside him. Fingers nudged his, gently. Polite Victorian society etiquette forbade neck kisses, after all. Especially in public.
‘If you don’t stop glaring at that case you’re going to bore a hole through the glass’ Martin smiled gently.
‘What have you fou-..oh’
Baldwin ground his teeth.
‘That’s. my. sword.’
‘I can see that’
‘My sword. In a bloody museum.’
‘Lost in..’ Martin squinted, his eyes turned upwards, ‘..1123, if I’m not mistaken’
Baldwin rounded on him, furious, then remembered that they weren’t alone and forced himself to calm down slightly.
‘That’s not the point! It’s mine!’
‘Well, buy it back off them then’
‘Stop being reasonable! I’m upset!’
‘You’re worth more than God’ Martin pointed out, then leant in close to Baldwin’s ear, ‘Especially to me.’
Baldwin smiled inspite of himself.
‘Buy it back off the museum. I could arrange the sale for you’
Baldwin blinked. ‘You can do that?’
‘Of course! I have been working here for nearly three years, after all’
