Reposted from @wellreadsinger When I tell you that the African Immortal series took me on an emotional rollercoaster…y’all I’m too young for high blood pressure 😭😭 - - Look I’m a firm believer in “poetic justice” meaning that just because it’s not the ending I may have wanted, doesn’t mean it was necessarily bad. It means it was fair or ideal. So considering everything that transpired among these characters and all the (very) tough decisions they had to make in their mission of trying to preserve AND save human lives…I’m satisfied. Did I sometimes want to run this fade on Fana? Perhaps, but she did the best she could. Do I wish that Johnny Jamal Wright…you know what I need to heal first. But overall, the attention to detail and all the research the author had to do to write these novels is evident. This may be a Fantasy/Sci-Fi series, but there is SO MUCH historical context, religious references, and rich culture throughout the books that was done justice. The pacing, the action, the character development along with the constant themes of love, faith, and family—— a masterpiece. Tananarive Due @TananariveDue is such a blessing to this genre and all her work in the industry is more than appreciated. I could talk about this series all day so imma keep it cute, but I will try to rank the series in terms of which books were my favorite in the near future.
