the black spades - part 1
"People are strange." - Alek and Addi
"I have to agree, but I'd have to say that we are much stranger. Perhaps we skew the results." Addison kicked her legs up onto Alek's legs and smiled. Passing him the bottle of vodka, she leaned back and made herself comfortable on the couch. "At least we have each other."
"Are you challenging me?" - Addison and Dodge
"Challenge?" Addison scoffed. "You consider yourself a challenge? You're a war torn street rat. What could you possibly do to an Upper East Side goddess like me?" She pulled out her knife and began to twirl it in her fingers. "You've been trained, but not like I have. Not at all like I have. You want to do what's right?" She stopped and smiled. "I want to win."
"You did this?" / "Okay?" / "You’re the magician’s assistant in their dream."
"You did this?"
"Did what?" Addison strolled through the living room as she drank her third beer of the afternoon. "Clean the house? Yeah, I did. Why are you so surprised?"
"Okay?"
"Just fucking doing it, okay?" Addison groaned. "It's the last job. I promise. We can't afford not to do this one, Derek." With a sigh, she turned toward the door. "We have to think about more than just us now, you know."
"You’re the magician’s assistant in their dream."
"What? No way," Addison chuckled as she leaned in closer, resting her head on Derek's chest. "Did I have the Mickey Mouse hat and everything? Conducting the waves and all of that?" She leaned up and kissed his chin. "Cute. Real cute."
"Shut up and kiss me." / "It's empty in the valley of your heart." / "Long live the Queen."
"Shut up and kiss me."
Addison slapped Carter's face. How dare he speak to her in such a manner? She paused, taking deep breaths to control herself. Then she suddenly grabbed his jaw and yanked him forward, pressing her lips hard against his. She let herself enjoy it for a moment before pulling back. "Is that what you wanted?"
"It's empty in the valley of your heart."
"Well you'd know all about that, wouldn't you?" Addison grabbed his hair and pulled him close. "It's empty all inside of you." Pushing him back, she released him and watched him stumble. "Must be fun, not feeling a thing. And yet you always come back to me."
"Long live the Queen."
Addison looked over at Carter's drunken state. "Shut the fuck up," she scoffed before laughing. "Long live the Queen and her henchmen. They might actually be fearsome if they could get their hands out of their pants long enough to do something." She rolled over and nudged his chin. "Maybe there will be day with no more Queens?"

♙ a kiss on a bruise: Alice/Addison
Addison laughed as she looked over at Alice. “Did you get your hand caught in the slide? How?!” The two young girls sat on the bench as Addison looked over her wrist. “Well, Mom’s over there. But I can kiss it and make it better!” She smiled and pecked Alice’s wrist. “See? Now let’s go play!” She grabbed Alice’s other arm and dragged her to the monkey bars.
