Founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization, it was one of the first associations of Black people in Germany. • • • According to the Museum of European Cultures, “The Adefra principle is: "The woman who shows courage". Twenty years ago, research and literary productions by Black German Women activists led to an initiative the social-political debates of which became the starting point for a specific form of organization of "Black activism of Black women in Germany". • • • “Audre Lorde and these women activists established the political self-denomination "Afro-German" which initially comprised a small circle of Black feminists.
