Big thanks to @eternalremorse for her post listing all of MC's classmates, it saved me most of the prepwork for this little project.
Priscilla Wakefield is not in any of the potions classes, at any time. I've replayed both several dozen times, and yes, I know there's a screenshot of her talking to Imelda on the wiki, I don't know when and how that was taken, but from what I can tell, she doesn't exist (at least not in any way that matters)
Also, I didn't include anyone who only shows up in flying class and nowhere else, as the attendance of Sophronia Franklin (who's confirmed to be a third year) definitively proves that that class isn't exclusively for fifth years.
I hope it's obvious that "unidentified student" is MC, I wanted to include them somehow (and had the row to fill anyways)
This list is for anyone who needs references as to which named NPC's attend the MC's classes in fifth year.
I watched back all of the cutscenes, so I've made it as detailed as possible. But if I've forgotten anyone, please let me know and I'll update the list!

I was originally gonna post this tomorrow but I'm feeling quite accomplished about this so here we go!
Hi everyone! I have been busy writing this revamped profile of my main Hogwarts Legacy OC, Danny, based on a template originally by @cursebreaker-lilith. I wanted to keep my HL OC recognizable as Danny based on his concept I first came up with, while fleshing him out with a lot of new lore. None of this is possible without the support and encouragement of my many mutuals and friends here!
Given the large size of this profile, I made the choice to put the story/lore section in it's own post that will go up later in a few days or so. This is subject to change as new ideas may come in, but I felt it was ready enough to be published. DM me, send me an ask or leave a reply if you have any question about him or want to offer an OC friendship! I love getting feedback and tried my best to portray his neurodivergence in a way based on modern research and understanding of autism and post-traumatic stress. Enjoy!
BASICS
Name: Daniel Roy Gibson
Nicknames: Danny
Name Meaning: Daniel is from Biblical times and means “The Lord is my judge.” It could be associated with his devotion to ethics and morality as values to follow in the face of a misguided, unforgiving society as well as corruption and dishonesty in government.
Roy is associated with monarchs and royalty, possibly linked to the abilities of leadership Danny later discovers, as well as rising up from the darkness and finding new hope, confidence and brotherhood.
His surname, “meaning son of Gilbert,” is derived from the given name Gilbert, based on Germanic words meaning the tip of a spear or arrow as well as one bright or famous. Together, these meanings could point to Danny’s resilience in hardship and how he can bring light into the darkness of others’ lives.

A broken family and much hardship growing up left Danny living in his father's long shadow. Inflicted with a condition now known as PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the ghosts of his past haunted him for many years after. His mind routinely revisited the old memories of his trauma without much hope of making peace with them, and they influenced his views on the world.
Danny was avoidant of strangers, sticking close to his mother or his friends if he had to travel. His traumatic memories were triggered by things such as one raising their voice, arguments and fights, sounds similar to someone getting hit, and the casting of unfriendly spells. Danny also faced recurring nightmares, panic attacks and flashbacks of his torment.
Also Autistic, young Danny’s struggles with socialization went further into participating in conversations and behavior around others. For even with those he knew, there were times it was awkward. He could be hyperactive when angry, excited or anxious. Subtle signals normally expected to be noticed such as tone of voice, word phrasing or body language were more likely to be missed by Danny. Concentration was tougher and his grades could drop, concerning his professors.
No secret it was to Danny his father was a monster, but his young mind rattled by much physical and psychological torment couldn't work out what got in and twisted him. Why had he become so evil? What were his goals and plans? Nor could he understand why society seemed so scary, with all the stereotypes, elitism and ableism going about. These were some of the memories and thoughts out of his trauma he had a hard time settling with.
If put into a social situation, he may tell off peers he thought were disruptive or walk out in a nervous panic in response to triggers, leaving others feeling intimidated and uncomfortable.
Danny started Hogwarts with trust issues. He was in a new world where he felt foreign and seen as suspect, with no due consideration from others for what he was going through. Reaching out or meeting new people outside of his family’s circle was very daunting to him at first. Aware of his trauma, he was afraid others might see his presence as eccentric or even unwelcome and jarring.
It was also quite overwhelming for him to handle large crowds. The overstimulation could make him want to scream inside even though he couldn't out in the open, pressed to not let himself appear vulnerable emotionally.
Even with all the isolation, fear and social anxiety he faced, Danny would keep pushing on as he did before he arrived in England from America. He was able to meet friends like Poppy, Amit and Samantha who understood how he felt. He connected with them through shared topics and activities of interest that could be explored in small groups.
Danny would only realize it later on but such experiences, including what he was building with Poppy around magical creatures, reviewing Herbology with Samantha and studying the stars with Amit, among others, would become the base for his own circle of friends. They were not just his group of friends, they were his community.
Over time, his Autism and PTSD became more manageable as he adjusted to Hogwarts life. The new sense of community Danny felt from the people he met and bonded with gave him a space where he could reflect on his trauma in a better light, working to reconcile those memories. Study sessions and other activities were not just fun and helped Danny learn, they aided in providing the security and semblance of peace and belonging he needed.
He also found new validation in noting how some of the things he did with his friends reminded him of some of the better parts of his earlier childhood.
In fact, as he started to get used to Hogwarts, it became his main goal to find a group of people that knew and accepted him for who he was. As a child from a broken family, trying to change to integrate into the mainstream society of the time was futile. Neither was it what Danny needed. It must also not be forgotten that he was helped along by professors who cared about him. They worked with so that he could rise up both in an academic and personal sense, preparing him to achieve greater potential.
Even as he matures and improves at managing his neurodivergence, Danny tends to be quiet and somewhat shy. It still takes him time to open up to new people. Triggers are still an issue, but Danny has learned new techniques to counter them. His friends can also help him if something happens. He may seem weird sometimes with his mannerisms, but never means any of it.
It has remained true from the start that he appreciates people who step up to show him kindness and compassion, a gesture he had expected little to no of when he first started Hogwarts. This is how he met Adelaide earlier on. Danny wants friends who can value what he brings to the table and help him feel included without imposing societal expectations on him. However, he is cautious of those who seem deceptive or untrustworthy with suspicious agendas and prejudices.
At his best, Danny is very smart, perceptive and adaptive to change. He is outdoorsy and adventurous. His tendency to be upbeat when in a good mood can make him a fluid and charismatic speaker. He could talk about a subject that interested him with great focus and detail. At times, he can get too vested in the excitement of it and lose track of when to halt, needing someone to remind him so.
Given what happened to him in the past, Danny can be prone to being bluntly honest and sarcastic when articulating his thoughts.
His fashion sense has also improved after becoming more sociable. Perhaps too good because it’s even to the point where he may be even dressed neatly on an occasion where things can get rough. He may grumble about his blazer getting some dust on it but he'll brush it away and keep going, laughing it off as if it was nothing.
When it comes to his views on law and society, Danny believes in the importance of rules and order, but he sees the established government as too corrupt and stagnant in confronting issues. He is pragmatic and not above going in to help others to great lengths, like Natsai.
This means he is willing to do what he can to resolve a situation even if his involvement could be put into question because of the danger for a young person, potential laws broken and lack of involvement from authorities. Among these adventures are stopping the curse on the tomb belonging to Samantha’s family and helping Poppy raid poacher camps.
Danny’s pragmatism is mediated by his morals and values. While he does not feel too bound by the rules when it came to helping others in need, never could he fathom straying away from the original principles they were written on.
He also becomes more confident and involved in the school scene to some degree with the support of his friends. He takes on the Duelling Club and becomes the seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.
Other times, he likes to play his trumpet for anyone wanting to listen. Sometimes he'll join friends who also have instruments and play together with them. Usually this was for a handful of listeners, but he could try in concert if encouraged. He may enjoy some celebrity fanfare but sneak out of the spotlight soon after to avoid feeling overcrowded.
Although now more comfortable out there in the world, Danny is still an introvert and reserved somewhat. He is demi and must develop a strong emotional connection with someone first before he can fall in love with them, like in his relationship with Adelaide.
Danny's small circle of close friends is dear to him. He is very loyal to them and trusts them a lot, able to accept Hogwarts as his home knowing they have his back. It means much for him to be able to return the care and kindness they show, whether helping them study a subject they struggle in or come to their aid in something they're facing in their own lives.

Best Classes:
I wrote entries for the section thinking of highlights from Danny’s classes. This is based not just on what he’s good at, but also what from the class he finds memorable. It may or may not change.
Potions - Inheriting his family’s talent for the field, Danny eventually managed some of the most complex brews taught to students under the tutelage of Professor Sharp. Such higher-level potions taught in later years tested his abilities in the subject, as well as his concentration, patience and attention-to-detail. The surroundings of the classroom were quite the distraction for him when he started out, but when given the right conditions to work, he had a chance to excel.
Danny’s achievement in Potions throughout his years played a part in his choice to explore Alchemy when it was offered to him. Not only encouraged to pursue his potential, he thought it could be an interesting and potentially useful skill to know for the tough level of work people like aurors were expected to undertake.
Herbology - A youth growing up with an affinity for nature and the outdoors, the qualities of the classes appealed to Danny for him to become exceptional at Herbology. Similar to potions, his ability to excel in this class and the good surroundings encouraged socialization with his friends in it.
Even with tougher assignments in exams and later years, he always anticipated going into the greenhouses for the next lesson with a brightened spirit and mood.
Defense Against the Dark Arts - Danny attended Hogwarts in a very different time before Voldemort was around and the post was jinxed - DADA was more of a normal, routine class with a professor that was able to establish themselves and teach the subject for many years.
Professor Dinah Hecat was somewhat eccentric and he first feared her as a former Unspeakable. He later came to appreciate her perspective and admired her efforts against those who commit crimes against magical creatures, such as the great raid of a large poaching ring in Wales in 1878.
Danny learned many useful, adaptive and versatile spells and skill under her tutelage, minding that battle evil in the magical world can become just as dirty, complex and unforgiving as pursuit of crime and warfighting in the muggle world.
Worst Classes:
History of Magic - This was of some interest to Danny early on. Although sneaking into his father’s office at home and seeing parts of his father’s disturbing research on seemingly old, infernal magic he could never comprehend made him hesitant to look into secrets of the past too deeply.
His curiosities of this kind were not further tapped until he arrived in England and Garreth opened him up to books about the past of Wizarding Britain. Never could Danny hope to get any of the knowledge he’d need to study for History of Magic from Cuthbert Binns, so he turned to friends like Amit and Grace who knew their stuff.
Favorite Professors:
Professor Aesop Sharp - A former auror, Professor Sharp appeared imposing and unsettling to first-year Danny. He was strict and expected the best performance from his pupils, but had respect for those who showed talent in potions.
Even with his early struggles, Danny showed remarkable scores on his first assignments with help from friends. Professor Sharp provided him tutoring to refine them in a place where he could focus better.
When Danny first showed aspirations of becoming an auror, Professor Sharp became his main contact for advice and coaching for pursuit of it as a career.
Professor Matilda Weasley - His relationship with her goes back to before Hogwarts. Danny’s mother Rue knew Matilda from her Hogwarts days and they even lived in the same county, Devon.
It was through their connection that Danny met and befriended Garreth, who helped him achieve his potential in potions that later played a part in his ascension to studying Alchemy as a NEWT-level subject.
Danny looked up to her a lot during his time attending Hogwarts. Professor Weasley’s close, thoughtful and persistent mentoring helped him achieve a respectable mastering of Transfiguration when he used to be baffled by it a lot.
Professor Mirabel Garlick - A young professor that taught Herbology and was Head of Hufflepuff, her eccentric but bubbly and friendly character was something Danny soon came to enjoy in her class. The greenhouses felt lively with lessons taking place.
When Danny started to consider he may be demi after seeing others talk about their feelings for people they were attracted to while he did not have any for anyone himself, he went to Professor Garlick for advice. He knew she understood what it was like to be different and be comfortable in expressing one’s self when society expects otherwise.
She listened to his concerns and explained that her partner was a witch, and that she only developed feelings for witches. Danny was suggested by her that he may only have feelings for someone he has a very strong emotional bond with. Through his conversations with her, he felt more validated in how he gained feelings for other people and accepted that as a part of himself.
Garlick told him “Loving one another differently is not to take a part of you away. You can still get together with someone dear to you and settle down with them like any other. I’m happy with Sirona and the feelings we have for each other are still real. They’re as real as those you will have for someone you fancy, no matter who they might be or what it takes for them to form, whether it’s at first sight or someone you’ve known for a while that you want to love and move in with.”
Least Favorite Professors:
Professor Phineas Nigellus Black - Perhaps one thorn in Danny’s side was Professor Black the Headmaster, who he learned a lot about through his conversations with his friends. His encounters with the man didn’t do well to help counter the rumors he heard about him, nor his past memories .
Professor Black didn’t appear to care much for the students he was responsible for, and even singled out ones he didn’t like for one reason or another. Usually it was because they were an "embarrassment to the upstanding people of wizarding society” or some other excuse rooted in his prejudices and disdain for those his social class saw as undesirable.
Danny found the Headmaster hard to deal with at first, as he also reminded him of his father and put him at risk many times of causing his triggers to act up. He later learned not to care much about him, the man shielded from any kind of consequence by his connections in the Ministry and the pure-blood elite.
Professor Cuthbert Binns - Not much to be said for as the professor’s handling of the subject cannot be disconnected from the class itself. Danny only achieved scores of “Exceeds Expectations” on his History of Magic exams again thanks to helpful students in the know.
Magic
Wand: 11 3/4′’, Cedar, Unicorn Hair Core, Solid
"Whenever I meet one who carries a cedar wand, I find strength of character and unusual loyalty. My father, Gervaise Ollivander, used always to say, ‘you will never fool the cedar carrier,’ and I agree: the cedar wand finds its perfect home where there is perspicacity and perception. I would go further than my father, however, in saying that I have never yet met the owner of a cedar wand whom I would care to cross, especially if harm is done to those of whom they are fond. The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them."
Special Abilities: None (main timeline) or Ancient Magic Manipulation (HPHL MC AU)
Never bestowed with any form of special abilities at birth, Danny was gifted with good intelligence, strong will and the means to become an attuned judge of human character, though these are personal characteristics outside of the realm of special abilities. Certain abilities or adeptness like becoming an animagi, legilimecy or occulumency he is not too vested in even though he sees the potential utility and benefit in them.
Animagi is too complicated of a process he doesn’t see as worth it for the risk and possibility of permanent damage to one’s well-being or the possibility of legal problems if not done properly and registered.
Mentally and emotionally, Danny feels like attempting to learn legilimency and occulumency would only put him through more trauma as those memories would be at the forefront, and he is not too fond of the idea of going through of others’ memories even with their permission, as they are still of very private nature.
In short, Danny believes it is possible to live life without such abilities and there is much more to people that can help them stand out, but good on those who do have them.
(HPHL MC AU) However, in a path where he received the gift of being able to manipulate ancient magic, Danny inherits it from his father's side. The power is only discovered by him in his fifth year. Not only must he be born with such abilities, the wielder has to be skilled enough with the potential for complex magic.

FAMILY
Father: Wallace Dexter Gibson
Considered a brilliant and dashing if somewhat eccentric young man during his time at Ilvermorny, Wally had ambitions of becoming an Unspeakable and furthering understanding into forms of magic and supernatural forces little understood.
His family immigrated from England to America in the 1700s. In the 1840s, Wally's father, a magizoologist, concerned by the expansion of non-magical communities in the Industrial Revolution and government instability, sought to move out west in search of freedom and new opportunities to continue his work. He traveled across the continent by wagon train from the eastern US, later marrying and settling down in Oregon with a Native American witch, a healer who became Wally's mother.
He got along with Danny's mother over their similar interests in unusual magic, who was in a desperate situation when they met and attracted to him for his show of care and support, both financially and emotionally.
Their relationship seemed good at the start, but it was doomed. His desire for further power and knowledge turned out to be untameable. Recruited by and lending his service to a group of pure-blood supremacists as he went mad, Wallace grew more erratic. He subjected his family to escalating abuse and treachery they'd have to contend with for many years. Wallace ultimately died trying to pursue his ambitions.
Mother: Prudence Mary Cantrell
Her family dealt in the apothecary business. They fell on hard times during the economic recession, necessitating her to seek state funding for studies at an Alchemy institute in New England, USA to pursue her dreams of being an Alchemist.
Things first appeared to be looking up after she got together with Wallace, who could help cover costs for her studies after her state funds were cancelled. It gradually became a nightmare over time.
For her two sons, she did her best to make sure they were taken care of even though she was trapped herself. Rue's chance to get out only came after her husband tried to carry out terror plans for the organization he secretly worked for that failed and cost him his life.
While Danny got along with her, they sometimes had tough conversations and disagreements over the choice to have Isaac be taken in by the farming family they knew even though he was too young and vulnerable, while Danny could fend for himself somewhat and Rue could only support one child as a widow.
She was able to establish herself as an alchemist after relocating back to Britain with Danny.
Brother: Isaac Chase Gibson
The talkative and cheerful little brother of Danny, he was born about six years after him. The concern of what the father would do about a second child in the family had Danny and Rue welcome him into the world at a farm belonging to family friends. They went on vacation in Europe to escape from Wallace’s torment for some time but eventually had to return.
They were very close, and Danny was protective of Isaac to the point of even shielding him from their father's aggression. After the move to England, they dearly missed each other. They had to live apart from each other for much of the time Danny attended Hogwarts but were reunited before he graduated.
Isaac eventually goes onto become a diplomat for the Department for Magical Cooperation after graduating Hogwarts.
Pets:
Danny is not vested much into keeping pets, he would likely be partial to owls but he prioritizes human connection and companionship given his past.
FRIENDS
This section is still subject to change as I may get more ideas for how Danny’s friendships with different Hogwarts Legacy characters may work out. For now, I started with his key friendships that are brought up throughout this profile as well as his main OC x Canon ship, Adelaide Oakes.
Best Friends:
Garreth Weasley - The first friend Danny met, they got acquainted before his first year. This connection would later show to him that if he had one friend, he could make friends, addressing worries he had about finding anyone in his new home that would be worthy of his time or energy to try getting along with.
Garreth loved potions like Danny. His over enthusiasm could get to his friend sometimes like when he try to get others to test his new concoctions. Although he didn’t try this with Danny out of respect for the trauma his father put him through threatening him to be a “test subject.” He much appreciated this boundary Garreth showed yet they’d sometimes have disagreements over his cynical antics in pursuit of becoming better at potioneering.
Much of the time, they got really well and Garreth looked out for Danny when he could, both studious and gifted students.
Samantha Dale - Danny met Samantha after being sorted, the goodwill gesture she showed him by inviting him down to the table left a good impression on him that encouraged friendship.
Her interest in herbology was considered unusual by some for a Ravenclaw but as many people could appreciate it. Danny resonated with this by his outdoorsy nature and he enjoyed sharing Herbology together with Samantha.
They also bonded over having brothers they adored dearly. It was then personal for Danny when her brother ran afoul of the curse on the family tomb, turned his feet in sugarbeets and he was determined to set it right.
Samantha was quite enthusiastic when Isaac came for his first year while she and Danny would be in their seventh, the younger brother also ending up in Ravenclaw.
Amit Thakkar - The other person that Danny was proud to be in Ravenclaw was Amit, who appealed to him through a shared love of astronomy. Enjoying the stories of how he and his family attempted the cute, but impossible task of counting all the stars in the night sky, they always looked forward to when the class took place.
Amit was kind, gentle and patient, even when Danny struggled. He was a constant study partner throughout their Hogwarts days. This became important to passing History of Magic in a miserable failure of a class with an even more incompetent professor who was literally a ghost. Danny had a greater appreciation for the subject as it ought to be reviewed and commemorated because of help from him and Grace.
Poppy Sweeting - While Danny’s other earlier friends had the luxury of living with good, caring families, Poppy’s parents were poachers, very disgraceful people who did not care well for their daughter. Looked after by her grandmother, she was able to understand Danny’s problems with being isolated and finding it hard to connect with people.
Starting to get to know each other through magical creatures, she was one of the first he opened up to about the entirety of his early childhood, including his father’s history of abuse and involvement with a hateful organization of blood purists.
Eventually, Poppy would invite Danny over to her grandmother’s, where he’d enjoy visiting from time to time. Poppy cared a lot for Danny and liked to check on him to make sure he was okay physically and mentally.
Natsai Onai - She entered Danny’s life when she transferred from her original school in Africa to Hogwarts in what would be their fourth year. It was a new place for her to be in.
Even with her mother taking a job as the Divination professor which gave some comfort, Natty would need friends who could help her adjust to her new settings. Danny was in a good place to help her as he had to move from America to England, a major life-changing event that took him a while to grow accustomed to.
Natty was good-natured, understanding and loyal. They also found commonality in their similar views on the current state of wizarding law and government at the time. Awareness of Ministry corruption pushed a desire and willingness in Danny and Natty to do what had to be done to protect others even at great risk of them getting hurt, not making it back or even getting in trouble themselves.

Love Interests:
Adelaide Oakes - Danny’s bond with her started one day in Potions class when she yet shy, approached him after sensing he was someone in need of a friend. She was calm and warm, and even offered to spend time with him quietly if he needed it. They enjoyed studing potions and herbology and sometimes read together.
Over time, they had opened up to each other about loss in their own families, Adelaide losing her parents at an early age and being raised by her uncle. Danny expressed condolences for her parents when he learned about what happened to them and she offered him comfort about the ordeal with his father leading up to his death.
By the time of his fourth year, something started to feel different about his friendship with Adelaide. After coming to terms with being demi, he realized that he had feelings for her that were romantic, but couldn’t get himself to speak up to her about them. Adelaide shared feelings for him too, and confessed them first after overcoming much hesitation.
They entered into a relationship and would stay together for the rest of their time at Hogwarts. With aspirations of becoming a metal trader after graduating, she became interested in alchemy and took the class with Danny when it became available in their later years, building on their knowledge of the subject together.
