Harry Potter OC Masterlist

With the new amount of content I've been putting out for my Harry Potter OCs, I felt it was time to do a masterlist where they all be easily found. This is just a basic post to start but I hope to expand it with more items including some more fanworks by moots as time goes on.

Cato Kirkwood (Hogwarts Mystery)

Cato is the scholarly sort with a business owner mother and a father on the Wizengamot. He is autistic and spends much time in books, curiously researching topics of interest to him. Cato is partial to history and culture. To help him achieve social milestones as a neurodivergent youth, his mother had him help out in her cafe-restaurant, where he learned responsibility and got along with the customers who were regular patrons.

Coming from a rural island in the Hebrides where folks knew each other, he tends to stay within his own bubble and still faces challenges in reaching out past it. He doesn't like being caught up in rumors and surrounded by the crowds or accosted by general troublemakers breaching the peace. Fame and popularity never appealed to Cato like it did with his brother, but his eagerness and desire to learn play a part in spurring him to step up and study martial magic for self-defense when threats begun to put Hogwarts at risk. The Ravenclaw boy appreciates having meaningful friendships with peers he is comfortable spending time, studying and working together with. His favorite part of forming these bonds is getting to know people as they come.

Danny Gibson (Hogwarts Legacy)

Born to an Unspeakable and an aspiring alchemist, Danny comes from New England. He has a little brother named Isaac, born six years after him. An early childhood marked by hardship trauma left him with PTSD alongside his autism. His father had gradually gotten insane as he developed closer ties with a pure-blood supremacist group and subject his family to escalating abuse. The family had to flee amid fears of retaliation from the group after his father died in the pursuit of his evil ambitions.

Starting anew with their struggling family in England, Danny started out as an outcast and a stranger. However, he would build up a group of friends at Hogwarts that gave him the sense of community he needed. With the help of his friends, good role models and leading figures, he manages to reconcile the ghosts of his past and make peace with his trauma. Such a journey is a quite a difficult feat, but his resilience, will, loyalty and dedication to friends and loved ones kept him going. What Danny wished for most is to be reunited with his brother Isaac. It was much delight to him when it turns out that they'd share a year together, he in his seventh, Isaac in his first, with both brothers in Ravenclaw.

I thought about how Rylan the smuggler, my main SWTOR toon, is heteroromantic but is on the ace/aro spectrum. He is demisexual!

Rylan doesn't pursue romantic relationships until he meets Akaavi Spar and gets to know her. It's a choice he made because the unpredictability of smuggling life and dealing with many untrustworthy people meant that a romantic relationship was not a priority for him. However, even when he's in a place where he feels comfortable to pursue a romance, his ability to form deeper intimate relationships with others is limited to one he forms an emotional bond with like Akaavi or Lana Beniko.

I’m so tired of the “why do people hate aspecs, they aren’t doing anything?” argument. I know that it is an attempt to support us, but it fails so spectacularly to understand aromanticism, asexuality, and any other aspec identity that it’s actively frustrating.

We are doing something. We’re rejecting allonormative ideals and that’s a massive thing to do. We’re actively fighting not just to help other aspecs, but to help everyone, because amatonormativity (and allonormativity as a whole) hurt everyone. Single people who want to find a partner but can’t also deserve to be able to exist.

There are so many issues with the expectation of marriage, including:

A single income isn't enough to get by anymore

Having a spouse is almost necessary under the current medical system

Society shames and pressures people who are single to get into relationships constantly

Rejecting allonormativity means fighting against these things that hurt everyone.

So, no, aces and aros and other aspecs aren't "doing nothing." We're doing quite a lot.

Happy Pride Month everyone! This time strikes somewhat different for me because my Hogwarts Legacy MC, Danny is demi! I came up with the head sometime last year and expanded upon it when I updated his lore and backstory. Sometime soon I'm hoping to write a post focusing on his sexuality and how Danny learns to embrace being demi as a part of himself and later in his love life in a Victorian-era society that is very disapproving and even hostile toward many forms of diversity in people, especially when it comes to how one loves and neurodivergence.

I'm also curious to hear more about queer OCs and their ships!
