Please notice!!

okay y’all, this is actually kind of important (to me, at least)! it’s not a worldwide issue, but I’ve been given the unique opportunity to actually get my school to better accommodate neurodivergent students, and I really want to hear what everyone has to say/suggests! this is very important to me and a lot of people I know, so if u could please help I’d appreciate it! I’m trying to do as much as I can, so please, give me any and every suggestion!

hi i’m meeting with the director of disability services at my university about receiving accommodations for adhd. i’ve never done this before. does anyone have any tips on what i should ask for or what they’ve found helpful? thanks

Wanting to ask a question about the question you answered. The one about not getting test finished on time. I have the same problem. Like I need the more help to focus but I also don't want to be like asking for tooo much.

Never worry that youre asking too much, you are entitled to the help you need,

im in the 8th grade & i have adhd-c. i want to talk to one of my teachers about it but i dont know how. the teacher already knows about it. but i feel bad about asking for more help. like i need more help focusing in class.

Perhaps ask your mom/dad/guardian to help talk to them? I’m a senior in high school and my mom still does most of the talking to my teachers (anxiety; and on a related note it is not childish to need your mother’s help) Just tell the teacher or tell an adult in your life to talk to the teacher about things that might be helpful for you. I hope this helps!

it takes me a while to take tests & im always getting told by the kids in my class that i need to hurry up, or that im dumb for taking forever. but i cant focus when there talking & doing things that are distracting. my teacher knows about my adhd & she had me finish the test at her desk so she could keep me focused. i always end up rushing or making mistakes because im not thinking it through. any advice?

Ask to be allowed extra time in a DIFFERENT ROOM. if that isnt possible, ask if you can wear headphones and listen to music to block out the noise. If the other kids in your class are insulting you, its time to report them for bullying (go straight to the principal). Its never ok for someone to be put down for something they cant control, amd you most certainly are not dumb for needing more time.
