So one of my fav adopt artists updated their personal tos/adopt tos recently and I try to stay on top of it and give it a skim when artists do updates. And wow this type I was really surprised.

I own a handful of their designs and now I'm really worried. Their tos claims they plan to revoke designs from anyone who makes "harmful" or "problematic" art. You can't even make vent art with these designs without threat of revoke. Pretty much stated if you make anything gross they will take back the design.

Normal answer? Just get rid of the designs right? I can do that for a few I don't feel connected with and plan too. Buuuut.. I have a few I def... really love? And don't plan to get rid of? And if they revoke my purchased design I... plan to just keep using it because that makes zero sense to me???? 

I'm just lost. I don't want to upset the designer artist or argue about their terms, I won't be buying any more work from them since I can't support such harsh treatment of other artists. Just makes me nervous to think they eventually will look at my ownership of their designs and harass me/claim I'm stealing from them when I have already purchased these designs for.. well years. Already happened once with Pansy the wolf and that artist never cleared it up either. Big sighs.

( Not looking to name the artist or bother them at all. For my own comfort I have just unwatched. )

What do you guys think of revoke rules? If you can't handle weird strangers on the internet buying your art/designs... maybe don't sell it? Right?

Adopt TOS

The rules upon purchase are:

1.) Do not resell the design, if you MUST please DM me to resell.

You can re-gift

You cannot sell for a higher price.

If you have art of said adopt made and want to resell you can resell for a higher price

2.) Redesigning

I do not care if you redesign the adoptable. It's yours, go crazy.

Despite redesigning you MUST credit me for the original design.

If the design is clearly POC coded please keep the features and aspects of the design!

3.) Crediting

You only need to credit me once upon posting the adoptable anywhere. Toyhou.se, Twitter, or any website.

I am not very fickle about crediting. I don't personally care. I'd just like people to know I created the design.

4.) Personal use

You are welcome to use the adoptable in projects such as webcomics and similar projects.

If you put it in merch like charms or posters, etc. I won't be bothered.

I would like you to not use my designs for commercial use. This is not a custom design, if it was 100% custom I'd be cool with it.

personally ive never vibed with the idea of being able to revoke designs after people have spent money on them, it feels like you're only renting it or something? 'sorry i dont like the art you make so i'll be taking that sofa you bought from me on craigslist now' like that makes no damn sense to me

as far as im concerned if i bought something its mine and thats the end of it, and if they try to revoke the ownership id just ignore them and carry on (and obviously not buy from them again)

i think its super messed up that so much of the adopt community feels comfortable and justified harassing someone over something like that

Yeahhh, I remember adding the "lol revoke rule" for my adopts back in like 2013 when I didn't really think about what that meant. I just wanted the stupid rule to prevent someone from adopting my stuff and making racial harassment out of it at the time. But as you re-read these rules over and over and think about what it means to enforce them.. Just... NONSENSE.

I'm very much a part of the opinion that once you have sold an item/design/whatever it is no longer yours beyond being credited for artwork. So affiliation I guess.

And I hard agree. I'm so nervous with the adopt community it is really killing my drive to be social and creative with people. Really sad...

ADOPT TOS

You may:

- Redesign the character (as long as it isn't unrecognizable from my original design)

- Change gender/sexuality/etc. once you get them

- Buy as a gift for someone else (as long as you tell me beforehand)

- Use the design for monetary purposes (such as merch and stuff like that) as long as you aren't profiting from my original piece of artwork

You my NOT:

- Resell for a higher price (unless more art is added)

- Use as an nft

- Claim the design is yours

Adopt TOS

Buying An Adopt

-You are allowed to put adopts on hold for up to one week. If at any point in time you change your mind, please let me know right away! I won’t be upset! If after one week you have not paid, I am taking the adopt off of hold.

-Payments are required before you receive the full image for your adopt

-I allow any commercial use of my designs! All I ask is that you credit me somewhere people will see. Also if you’d like, please let me know! I’d love to see what people do with my designs!

-If you are rude, miss payments more than once, or use my designs for anything such as hate art, you will be blocked from buying any of my designs again <3

-It’s not required, but if you like a set but don’t want to purchase any, I would really appreciate you sharing it instead! I rely on adopts for a solid chunk of my income, so every little bit helps!

Extra Offers

-If you purchase a commission featuring a design I have made for you, you will receive 10% off that commission!

-You can get either a chibi ($10) or normal ($15) icon to go with any adopt you have purchased from me, past and present! This offer does not go away after you have purchased a design :)

-I sell customs as well! If you like the vibes of a design but something doesn’t quite click, or if you’d like to see me do something specific, you can always contact me about custom designs for you! Chibis start at $25, Full designs start at $35! These can vary based on complexity :)

What I do and what I don't regarding CUSTOMS

-->kemonomimi/humanoid/human adopts -->customs -->anthro [I dont make anthro bases] --> overly mature content [just contact AmonKillian]

RULES on Adoption

-->trading/reselling is fine. -->request of some forms for my Levanael Species. -->Request to recolor a purchased Levanael/Glitch. -->No tracing/stealing of any of my ART. I poured my blood, sweat and tears into each of these bbys and it INSULTS me to see them traced/stolen. Expect injurious retribution if you do. -->No breeding of Levanael with any other species. It only works with its kind and I'm more than willing to explain to you how they do it. -->No claiming of my design, please oh please.
