Grigor Dimitrov during his singles match against Dominic Thiem at the Adria Tour on Sunday, June 14th, 2020.
Grigor has revealed he has Covid-19.
I am wishing him a speedy recovery and getting back to full health.
Personally, I feel as though Novak Djokovic's move to make this tour happen - was bad. Really bad. As Head of the Player Council, I expect more from him.
At the tour there were no measures or guidelines being followed. It was disgraceful and as a result - Grigor has caught the virus and may well have passed it onto other as well.
I am not saying that Grigor is not to blame, he chose to go there and also chose not to wear a mask - but as harsh as it sounds, he's got the consequences. He probably feels like shit and might even be scared - I truly hope he recovers fully.
I am saying that Novak in some way should be held accountable for this reckless planking and endangering of players health.
Yesterday, Grigor revealed that the medic team at the Adria Tour told him that he was suffering from heat exhaustion. They even said he could continue playing. They did not do a test. Instead of playing, he withdrew and (I'm assuming) Chris took him back to Monaco where he took a test and came back positive. In summary - he had symptoms at the Tour and they DID NOT test him and even said he could technically still play!
I am ashamed of Djokovic - I used to stick up for him when people hated him for no reason. But now, I simply can't.
Fellow tennis fans - what's your opinion on this? Should the US Open continue? Could this have been prevented?
*Rant over*
Djokovic: 'Tôi là nạn nhân của vụ săn phù thuỷ' "Tôi như nạn nhân của một 'cuộc săn phù thủy' vậy", Djokovic nói trên The Times…
Somehow - this shows me that Grigor is on a whole different level from the other Adria Tour players.
He's actually showing regret and remorse - I mean one of the first things he said was that he regrets participating.
He's clearly thought a lot about it and the possible consequences he's caused others. Even saying he would have paid medicals fees for a poor family, if he had caused them harm.
Other guys said - "Oop sorry for what happened but, really, we did nothing wrong."
At least Grigor is doing something more than avoiding the topic and ignoring questions.
