Writing prompt: A person shopping, desperate to find an outfit for a friend’s upcoming wedding
Soooooo... this turned in Stardew Valley fan fiction. Please forgive me. Thank you for asking lovely!!!!
The music in the store was annoying. Some pop shit Haley didn't like. She had one goal. Find a nice dress for Alex and the Farmer’s wedding.
Alex is her best friend in all of Stardew Valley. They've been friends since they were small children. They hang out on the beach together. She spends time with him while he sells ice cream to raise money for his sports team in the summer. She shows him her photography. She listens while he rambles about sports.
She always thought it would be her and Alex getting married. They just never moved naturally into a romantic relationship. But when she saw the way he looks at the Farmer she knew her fantasy would stay like that.
It took Haley about a year to come to terms with Alex and the Farmer dating. She distanced herself from Alex for months. She avoided the Farmer for the full year. It took until Alex called her out on her weird behavior to change. She realized she didn't want to lose her best friend. She didn't tell him why she was acting the way she was. She said something along the lines of her being depressed lately. That only fueled Alex to be more in her life.
So now here she is. Standing in a store that's too expensive for Emily's meager salary. She was determined to look good. Better than good. Sexy. Haley wants to show Alex what he's missing out on. Just because she's come to terms with them being together doesn't mean she likes it.
Haley pulls out another dress from the racks. This one a strapless purple knee length dress. Not something she'd normally wear. But she figured “fuck it” and took it with her to the dressing room where 30 more dresses waited for her.
She ended up choosing a blue dress that hugs her curves. Small pink polka dots decorate the dress. She thinks Alex will spend the whole time staring at her. In reality he spends the whole time smiling at the Farmer.
