The Detour Was the Point
I used to love plans. It made me feel safe to know where I was headed — where I’d sleep, what I’d wear, who I’d become.
But some of the most beautiful moments in my life have happened far off the itinerary.
The alley café with no name, where I wrote half a poem. The walk I took just to clear my head — and ended up watching the city turn golden. The stranger who said something so kind, I wrote it in my journal.
There’s magic in not knowing. In saying yes to the unknown. In trusting that detours don’t mean delays — sometimes, they’re direction.
I still plan. I still love structure. But I’m not afraid to follow instinct when it whispers, “Turn here instead.”
Because maybe that’s where the real luxury lives — in the freedom to follow curiosity.
There are few things I love more than flying so what a great way to finish off an epic week by traveling back to Vancouver via sea plane during sunset... up front in the cockpit no less. Thanks again for the incredible hospitality @harbourair. You all continue to set the bar in customer service and making air travel seamless, comfortable and fun! After this experience I am recommitting to finishing my pilots license and being able to get up amongst the clouds in our own @iconaircraft A5! It's been nothing short of a huge week and an even more intense six months. Getting back into the academic world after 25+ years, moving towards acquiring a professional designation, taking on the management of five businesses, uncovering my life's purpose, and committing to an audacious and crazy ass 50 year plan, has almost brought me to my knees a few times! However I made it... with the understanding, inspiration and support of some amazing people (you know who you are!)! With phase one of this 50 year plan complete, its time to recover and reboot for phase two. #gotime #grateful #accomplished #gofurther #bethechange #thecrazyones #adventurewithin (at Burrard Inlet)
