Rick shrugged. “Huh. Could be imaginin’ things. I had a recompile purty recently an’ that always messes my mem’ry a little. False Deja Vu an’ whatnot. Name’s Rick. What’s yers?” Rick held a hand out for a handshake. When he realized that this guy was terrified, Rick smiled sadly and scratched the back of his head, obviously trying to appear smaller. It wasn’t working for him. He went for totally calm and relaxed instead.

"So, uh… Y’look like a scientist, if’n’ I were t’guess. Good on you fer survivin’, but this place is damn dangerous fer humans. I ain’t gonna hurtcha none. You ain’t even gonna make me jumpy. This place ain’t my facility.” Rick tilted his head. “Goin’ somewhere specific? Aperture ain’t safe fer humans in th’same way eatin’ random mushrooms off th’ground ain’t safe. I’m happy t’help you git there. Got a good knowledge of most of th’universes in this sector.”

There was a mumbled answer to Rick's first question, words mingling together to make something that only remotely sounded like English. Not only was this guy massive, but he was clearly delusional as well. Scientist? What kind of scientists did this guy know? Anywhere that regularly employed children had to be even battier than this place.

The talk of random mushrooms and a recompile and just all of it wasn't helping matters, to the point that Craig was taking a fearful step back. What were the chances of outrunning this thing?
