A bright sunny day was all that Savannah wished for, one that would be the perfect weather to take a stroll in to see a friend's house. However, that wish seemed to remain only a vision in the back of her mind, because today was anything but sunny. It was very cloudy, and it had rained on several occasions throughout the day, though they were short showers that never lasted for long. It was in between one of these rain storms, when the little mouse decided to take her chances, and she would run over to Gyro's house. Sure, it would've been better to wait until tomorrow, or at least send a text or a letter stating that she was on her way. But she didn't want to risk any precious time writing or texting, for she didn't know how long it would be until the clouds would give in again and start drizzling.
Savannah gripped onto her her navy blue cloak that draped over her feet, not wanting it to get wet in the puddles that were sprawled out on the path. Her eyes stayed concentrated on the ground, not paying attention to the people that may be out wondering about. Besides, she didn't think that anyone would be out in weather like this anyways. The mouse was so concentrated, in fact, that she barely even saw a butterfly that had neglected to take precautions due to the weather, and was flying around Savie's path. The butterfly was right in front of her face, so even though it was a bit foggy, she could see the butterfly bright and clearly. Not wanting to risk running into the butterfly and possibly hurting it, she skidded to a halt almost narrowly hitting the insect. To her surprise, the yellow butterfly didn't even react to the mouse that stood within inches of it's path. The winged insect continued beating it's beautiful wings, flying above Savie's head.
This fact disturbed the little mouse, who was too out of breath to say anything to question the butterflies presence here at this time of day. Shouldn't the butterfly be somewhere else, sheltering itself from the oncoming storms? As if it had noticed Savannah's worried expression, the yellow insect turned tail, and went up towards the clouds in the sky. Savie's icy blue eyes followed the butterfly until it was just out of vision, at least for her that is. Then something happened that she probably could not describe, even if she tried. The butterfly starting turning green, a particular shade of green that seemed vaguely familiar, but she was unable to pinpoint exactly where she had seen the color before. Before she could continue to question the butterfly's mysterious shade of green, the butterfly starting designating from it's wings to the very tips of it's antennae. It turned into mere dust, that was blown away by the wind as soon as it came.
She was in somewhat shock. How could this possibly be? Was this her eyes fooling her once again? No it... it couldn't be, could it? Savannah rubbed her eyes and looked back up at the sky, hoping that the butterfly was still there. Nope, it disappeared. She was absolutely sure that the butterfly had somehow turned into dust right before her eyes. That wasn't something that could have been done naturally, she was sure of it. It wasn't hot enough for it to have disintegrated due to too much sunlight or heat. Maybe... Maybe it was a sign of something to come, a warning perhaps?
The mouse was never able to complete her thoughts, or mourn over the lost of the yellow butterfly, when a gust of wind distracted her. Of course, the storm! How could she have forgotten that a storm was brewing in her mist? She had to get going, there would be more time to discuss her thoughts on this subject later. Once again gripping the edges of her cloak, she ran down the path towards Gyro's house.
It didn't take no more than a few minutes to finally make it towards Gyro's house. She paused to take a few gasps of air, for she had run quite a distance and had somehow managed to not fall during that time. The mouse didn't bother to hesitate in knocking the door, which made a few soft thumping noises, but it was enough for anyone to hear that someone was there. Of all the things that there was to worry about at the moment, one would think that possibly disturbing Gyro from any really busy work would be the last of her worries. But, she couldn't help wondering if she had come at the wrong time. Maybe... Maybe she should've sent some sort of message before she came? Those thoughts had to wait however, because there was no turning back now.
