Any advice for when you have writers block? Im trying to write chapter 3 of my fic, but its just isn't coming to me!
Aww I’m honoured you’re asking me!!
Sorry I answered this so late
Ngl my solution to writers block used to be just abandon the wip lmao but I’m so excited for your fic so don’t follow my bad old advice!!!
So here’s what I do if I get stuck:
One time when I was writing a longer fic I got really stuck halfway through bc I didn’t know what to do next or how to write it so my friend suggested that I outlined it and it really helped!! I wrote like 4k more words and finished it bc of that so if you don’t have an outline already then I suggest trying it out!! It can be as little as just vague ideas of larger plot points that’ll happen or super detailed, just whatever works best for you!
My friend blue (@willies-skateboard) started this thing in our discord server at least called spite writes, where she’ll give us kinda challenges to give us some spiteful motivation like “I bet you can’t write 500 words in 20 minutes” or “I bet you can’t write 1k words consecutively” or smth like that, so if you want one definitely send them an ask (or even just me if you’re more comfortable with that)!
There’s also a discord bot called sprinto bot (tho writer bot does this too) I have on one of my servers, where you basically just set up how long and when for the bot to start a timer and you (and anyone else who joins) kinda race against each other to get the most words written in that amount of time. In our discord server we do it more like a spite write, where one persons says “oh I bet I can write more than you in 15 minutes” or smth and we all set the timer, start writing, and tell each other our word counts at the end! It’s less competitive than the bots and it’s more for “im proving them wrong!!” kinda thing but it’s super fun and I wrote like 1.1k words this way yesterday lol
Usually those work for me, but sometimes I’ll also just talk to one of my friends to develop some plot point, character thing, whatever, and they’ll help me get some details ironed out, give me some encouragement, and get me excited to write again
