I will digitally finish this, but this is just to show that I have drawn up how [I believe] the younger boys of men and dwarfs would look from Aedrenad. I will probably have a better version tomorrow or Saturday (digital). This is just a representation.

Where the grassland meets the mountain

Aedrenad- An old house merged into the landscape to help protect from the elements… and any potential thieves that may pass through the area.

Nud'um Mines

In the Mountains near the border between Aedrenad and The Araventian Republic, there are a series of Mines populated with slaves of different races, though mostly human children due to their abundance both across the land and for sale in black markets. Here these people are marked with glyphs for digging and clearing rock and are sent down into the earth to mine for minerals and precious commodities. Due to the blood poisoning effect of the glyphs, most miners die within a number of years of intensive work. Conditions in the mines are terrible, being stuffy and cramped, but everyone is given two square meals, once at the beginning and then at the end of each shift to keep up strength- the handlers would burn through people too fast otherwise. Unfortunately this doesn’t stop them from making examples of disobedient or lazy workers though, often pitting children of different races against each other for sport or to resolve arguments between them. Despite the horrid atmosphere, singing is a common pastime in the mines- older children teaching each new generation what they have called the ‘Songs of Sunlight,’ a combination of verbally invoking their working glyphs and reminiscing of the world above.

Sentient Races

Dwarves or the Aedrens

Physiology: Short, yet quite thin people, often with near white skin—ranging from human-esc reds and peaches to pale purples. They have bad eyesight and often rely on sensing vibrations in the stone they call their home. They have pale skin and horrible vision due to their time underground. Torches and other magical light sources are nonexistent in their monumental cities and kingdoms. Men and women alike sport beards and often have spikes growing out of their chin alongside their facial hair.

Culture: The Aedrens often despised magic, but were extremely advanced and intelligent compared to the other races, though the Aedrens often used their advancement to outsmart the other peoples and enslave them. Not many remain after an all out war broke out with the Ke’Rata and those that survived are often looked down upon.

A group of 5 remaining dwarves are called the ‘dragon kings’ after taming a large, lizard like beast and they now worship it as a god. These ‘dragon kings’ are completely blind after spending so much time in the sunlight and are quite violent to all who do not worship the fat, lazy lizard as they do.

They dress in asian style clothing and braids are extremely common, especially in higher ranks

Unique traits: Insanely good scribes and authors. Great memories also lead to good priesthoods and story tellers.

Aedrenad is the largest country in Evernyth for a reason. Aedren culture is primarily based on military service, and therefore they have the largest army of any nation. The most renown Aedren warriors are those who mount the deadly griffons, and ride them into battle.

The Aedrens (denomyn of Aedrenad) track their kings lineage to Aedrenad, the last of the Dwarven Kings. Aedren cities are famous for being completely made of stone, carved directly into the sides of mountains.
