Ambrosia (FFVII, AerTi, mythology AU)
Surely she won’t come back. No mortal is foolish enough to enter Aerith’s domain twice; the warnings are built into the very air they breathe. Besides, her reputation precedes her—every family in the village nearby can claim an ancestor that has suddenly disappeared, replaced by a forest critter whose mannerisms seem oddly familiar to those that come across it. Besides, she is foolish to hope for—anything, really. To be divine, a goddess of spring and flora, chained to her celestial abode, is to be forever alone. Are there other gods? Other than her mother, Aerith can’t say. If there are, they’ve never revealed themselves to her. And no human can ever patch the hole in her life; their lives are simply too short. And yet she yearns. Stupidly, foolishly yearns, for the mortal woman as dazzling as the stars. Their minor interaction has seared itself into Aerith’s soul, cursed to linger in her memory for millennia upon millennia.
Aerith, a vengeful goddess, diligently guards her sacred meadow. None are allowed inside, and trespassers are cursed without question—until Tifa, a beautiful maiden, picks a golden lily and takes Aerith’s heart with it.
