Abstimmung der Mitgliedsstaaten der Afrikanischen Union bei der 10. außerordentlichen Tagung zur Einführung des AfCFTA

Die außerordentliche Versammlung der Mitgliedsstaaten der Afrikanischen Union (AU) fand zwischen 17. und 21. März 2018 in Kigali/Ruanda statt. Neben der Abstimmung zum African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), bei welchem 44 der insgesamt 55 Staaten dafür abgestimmt haben, geht es um die Schaffung eines der größten Freihandelsabkommen. Exporte und Importe sollen somit auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent steigen und Handelsbeziehungen zwischen den AU-Mitgliedern erhöhen und stärken. So sei die Europäische Union (EU) ein Vorbild, in welcher 70 Prozent des Handels zwischen den EU-Mitgliedern abgewickelt. Zur Zeit wird lediglich 16 Prozent zwischen afrikanischen Staaten gehandelt.

Zudem ging es um die Abstimmung über die Kigali Deklaration und als letztes  um das Freizügigkeitsprotokoll, welches afrikanischen BürgerInnen die Möglichkeit zur freien Bewegung auf dem ganzen afrikanischen Kontinent – ähnlich wie in der EU – erlauben würde.
