Rhemann and Adi’s relationship never stops fascinating me. If I’ve got the timeline right, they started dating back in 1979. I mean, I obviously wasn’t around as a gay person in the eighties, maybe I don’t understand something, but just imagine it… It wasn’t just frowned upon — in half the states, it was literally a crime. And then HIV appeared, branded as “the disease of junkies and gays.”

So it makes perfect sense why they told everyone they were just close friends — something that, even in more tolerant times, would’ve sounded perfectly believable.

And I love picturing Jeremy in his freshman year — after that scandal with the gay orgy, after Noah death, after rehab expecting Rhemann to look down on him. But instead,Rhemann just introduces him to Adi with this quiet, knowing smile, like saying, “I understand what you’re going through.”
