the longer she found herself pregnant, the more frustrated she became. it was becoming increasingly harder to do mundane tasks, often ending with her ignoring the task completely. if she could see her feet, then she couldn’t see the dirt on the floor. however, that wasn’t the only that had her frustrated. while she had never been through pregnancy before, she loosely knew what to expect and her symptoms didn’t make sense. the baby seemed stronger than she would have thought, hurting her each time it kicked.
finding herself awake in the middle of the night, she leaned against the headboard, hand against her bump. not much longer and they’d welcome their child into the world. she was scared, more so than she ever thought she would. it wasn’t like they didn’t have everything, because she insisted they buy everything the moment she found out she was pregnant. she was scared of what labor would be like. scared that she wouldn’t be able to make it through. scared that something would happen to her, though she wondered if those fears were even rational.
feeling that familiar kick inside her belly, she whined softly, reaching a hand over to shake him awake. “nick,” she whispered. “you gotta wake up.”
