We will be exploring the history of poison and it’s continued connection to the occult. We will explore famous poisoners accused of being witches and necromancers, and look at some of the fantastic anti-poison charms of the Middle Ages. To understand how to incorporate poison as a magical component we must understand the different ways that poison has been conceptualized throughout history. By learning about different spirits and practices with connection to poison we come to understand it as an occult for that can be applied to spell work. Affair of the Poisons

In 1679, King Louis XIV established a ‘Chambre Ardente” or a “burning court” made to investigate potential witches that the public believed to be causing poison related deaths. What began as a search for a murder became the “Affair of the Poisons,” one of the largest witch trials in history, taking three times the lives taken by the Salem witch Trials.

Poisoning was the most effective and subtle way to dispose of competition when it came to elevating one’s social status. An intricate web of sordid connections and affairs. Strengthened by blood and broken by poison. Nowhere has poisoning been more prevalent than in the court of Louis XVI. And people don't really like me, even if they occasionally act like/try to claim they do. That may partially be my own insecurities, but after losing so many friendships (some that I at least thought were close) without much if any of an explanation (basically drifting apart, rather than having a massive fight and falling out), I can't help but feel as though everyone truly hates me and just occasionally acts otherwise.
