One review for this group (and it sounds like a pretty shit review, but whatever) goes: "Afuche's palpable onstage energy is key to the unique corner the band has carved for itself in the ever-saturated Brooklyn music scene.” (Jezebel Music)

Truth is that the scene's not saturated unless you sound like everyone else - Afuche definitely don't! Check out the second track on the EP, "Initialeone", it's pretty much post-punk jazz minus all the self-deprication/alienation, and when the vocals come in towards the end it's so unexpected and works so well that you're just like YES - there's no vocals before that on the EP, so the timing of the build-up is perfect.

There's just something about including horns on this kind of almost sloppy, nasty not-quite-blues licks indie style that works so well, and then they make it more and more catchy and melodic as the EP goes on.

Philly show dec 12th!

We're playing at the Ox on Dec 12th with some really great bands. This will be the first Tongue Sculptors show in over 3 months!

other bands include:

AGENT MOOSEHEAD 70's Zappa band thrown in a hot tub time machine. AFUCHE (Brooklyn) Experimental music that will make you dance your ass off while screaming. THE SEA AROUND US Akron/Family meets Don Caballero. Probably one of my favorite new bands I've seen this past year.

$5 donations. Doors are at 8pm, show starts at 9pm.
