In a beautiful, fleeting flash of goodness I was able to play some dnd last Sunday.
Only a one-shot dungeon crawl but GOD did I need the break from running.
We were two players down so the druid player offered to run his murder dungeon for just two of us. He pulled his punches in the final fight but we practically breezed through the rest of the dungeon only really being at risk once. This was largely down to me rolling a robe of useful items and starting with eight potions so I still had all but one spell left when we were entering the boss room. A 3rd level Swords Bard and Totem Barbarian combo, we were allowed to metagame a little since the dungeon was way higher level than us but the careful 10-foot-pole usage and some well timed crits meant we were able to spend a lot of time fostering a fun dynamic between our characters. Bjorn Jotunnson and Inkky (the screaming cat meme) turned out to be a gay/lesbian power couple capable of besting any challenge with ease thanks to their good communication, careful rationing of abilities and very efficient use of dungeon dressing to cut an advantage over the kobold (and treasure golem) host.
I can’t wait for the next episode but i still have that craving for a proper campaign
