Okay, so people may or may not know by now that I've started watching Steven Universe.
People who have been keeping up with SU will also know that the Wanted event aired yesterday, and may or may not have watched it.
Before I continue, here is a MASSIVE GOD-DAMN SPOILER: Steven goes on trial for Rose Quartz shattering Pink Diamond, and the gem assigned to defend him puts some pieces together and figures out that HEY, it seems really unlikely that Rose actually managed it, and that it might have actually been one of the other Diamonds instead.
Here's a link to a video clip of that part of Steven's trial - and I must say, Blue Zircon, the defending Gem, is the gutsiest Homeworld Gem I have ever seen EVER (yes she's gutsier than Peridot - Peridot wasn't in right there in front of her diamond and calling her a clod, let alone accusing two all-powerful DIAMONDS of murdering their own possibly-sister and co-ruler), and she is AWESOME.
So I watched the Wanted episodes on Youtube, and then went and looked in the comments, and saw that there were a metric butt-ton of people pointing fingers at either Yellow or White Diamond and going "IT WAS HER SHE'S GUILTY."
But who's to say it wasn't BOTH of them?
We know NOTHING about White - we don't know if she had as strong an emotional connection to Pink as the other Diamonds seem to have had, or even what kind of a person she is - we can only speculate. All we know about her is that she didn't turn up for the trial (which is kind of suspicious). So it's well within the realm of possibility that she is guilty, just as it is possible (judging by her reactions, which are also suspicious) that YD is guilty in one way or another.
SO HERE'RE MY TWO THEORIES:
THEORY ONE: White and Yellow collaborated, willingly, to take out Pink.
How this might happen is a mystery, but my thought is that possibly Pink had some revolutionary idea that she intended to implement: maybe she was going to allow fusion between castes to win the war, maybe she wanted to change how the government was run, something that White and Yellow didn't like, and so they decided that she needed to be shattered, shattered her, and used Rose as a cover-up, like Blue Zircon is implying.
THEORY TWO (and the one I'm more personally invested in): White and Yellow Diamond collaborated, unwillingly, to take out Pink.
Again, we know nothing about White. She could be the nicest person in the universe, or it's worst scumbag, we don't know. So it's entirely possible that White could be the kind of gem to MANIPULATE someone. We've already seen that, despite what Peridot claims about YD being the most logical, efficient decider to ever exist, she is still very much ruled by her EMOTIONS. And emotional people are probably far easier to manipulate, especially if you know them well enough to know how they'll react in a given situation.
So, here's my thought for this theory: Pink still did something that WD really didn't like. Maybe it was something revolutionary, maybe she just pissed WD off, I don't know. Either way, WD decides that Pink has to go, but knows she can't do it all on her lonesome, so she decides to go to Yellow, and tricks her either into agreeing to help, makes it sound like what Pink's doing will lead the Gem empire to ruin, or blackmails her somehow - maybe with something that will tarnish Yellow's reputation as a godlike Diamond, and thus make her gems loose faith in her. Or maybe she threatens Blue somehow (diamonds could shatter other diamonds!), and Yellow agrees in order to protect her. Either way, Yellow agrees to help, and they both collaborate to shatter Pink. And afterward, when Yellow starts regretting what she helped do, WD blackmails her into silence and covers up what actually happened in exchange for YD keeping her silence and covering for WD when she's not present to defend herself.
And before people start pointing fingers at "What's the Use of Feeling, Blue," and saying her grief is evidence she didn't do it, willingly or otherwise, here're some things to think about: you can do horrible things and then regret it later. You can do horrible things to someone you care about - and above all, just because you do do something horrible to someone doesn't mean you STOP caring about them.
