To begin to savor the life lived.

At 46 the harvest begins.

The antidote to anachronism in your own life is to notice, be, don’t join groups, Don’t watch TV.

Notes 6/24/2025

(An anachronism is something or a way of acting  in the present that is of a former time.  Example is writing a letter instead of sending an e mail. Or making a phone call from a rotary dial land line phone instead of from an I phone).

I wrote the  above antidote to anachronism when I was 46 in 2001. 

I’m now 70. At 70, I am a living anachronism! I don’t want an antidote to it. But, more than that , I have come to realize that I am a pool of consciousness in our common “now”. We are all actually the same age in our common “now”. “Now” actually has an ageless feel to it.

“Sono nata negli anni sbagliati, io non sono fatta per i ragazzi che si dichiarano su Facebook e guardano quanti like hai su Instagram. Io dovevo nascere con le polaroid, le lettere, i cellulari inesistenti e le foto in bianco e nero. Io sarei voluta andare a Woodstock, in sella ad una moto con il vento tra i capelli. Dimmi cosa me ne faccio di una visualizzazione su Whatsapp, se voglio ancora quelle lettere dove pensavi “sarà arrivata” e ci mettevi giorni per scriverle. Cosa me ne faccio dell’iPhone se le foto più belle sono quelle scattate con la Polaroid quando ti diverti con gli amici. A cosa mi serve la discoteca se preferisco trovarmi in piazza con i soliti amici, qualche birra e una chitarra sempre alla mano. Avrei voluto essere giovane quando le foto dei baci le stampavi per tenerle nel portafoglio e quando un ragazzo veniva sotto casa tua con una scusa banale, magari portandoti una rosa. Avrei voluto nascere quando c’era Kurt Cobain, dove per essere bella non dovevi essere una 36 quando l’amore era puro e si amava forte.”

LONDON | Bay City Roller Alan Longmuir dies in Scotland at age 70.

LONDON — Alan Longmuir, a founding member of the Bay City Rollers who played multiple instruments, including bass guitar and keyboards, has died in Scotland. He was 70.

His family said in a Twitter statement that he died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. No other details were given. He had been receiving medical treatment in Edinburgh.

“He was an extraordinary man with an extraordinary heart,” Longmuir’s family said. “He brought so much love and kindness to everyone he met, and he leaves a huge hole in our family.”

The Bay City Rollers were formed at the end of the 1960s and enjoyed substantial commercial success. They were known for their tartan outfits and upbeat, catchy tunes like “Bye Bye Baby” and “Shang-a-Lang.”

The band had a fanatical teen following and sold more than 100 million records. They split up in 1978 and reunited in 2015 for a string of sold-out performances.

The family statement says Longmuir used to describe himself as just a plumber from Edinburgh who got lucky.

Io dovevo nascere negli anni 70. Dovevo nascere all’epoca dei Beatles e dei Nirvana. Dovevo nascere quando non serviva una taglia 36 per essere bella. Io sarei voluta andare a Woodstock, con una motocicletta rotta ed un ragazzo che curava più la sua chitarra che il suo fisico. Io sono nata nell’epoca sbagliata. Cosa me ne faccio io degli IPhone se sono innamorata dei giradischi? Cosa me ne faccio io delle macchinette fotografiche digitali se le foto migliori le faccio con la Polaroid?
