Searching for Stillness - How did I get here?
September? Really? The last thing I clearly remember is February. What has happened to 2020? This was to be a new decade, a fresh start, time to reinvent. Boy has 2020 brought life as we knew it to a stand still and forced us to rethink our lives.`
I started 2020 with a goal of personal change in preparation for 2021. 2021 is a BIG year for us. I turn 50, my husband turns 60, and our son, our only child, graduates high school….talk about a “season of change”. I had spent the end of 2019 deciding what I wanted to do with the second half of my life. 😉
I’ve practiced yoga for 10+ years and have tossed around the idea of becoming an instructor for nearly as long. Well, I decided that was the first thing I was going to do in 2020, become a CYT 200, which I finished in July. My goal is to find a path of stillness in a world that has embraced and glorified the act of being busy.
As we have learned, 2020 has its own plans….COVID 19, hurricanes, wildfires, losing loved ones, and my personal favorite…..peri-menopause….yes! Let’s throw some extreme hormonal anxiety in on top of everything else! As I dive more deeply into the spiritual, physical, and emotional ways to address the changes we all go through as we age, I will share with you my personal experiences….what helps me, what doesn’t….along with yoga and running inspiration.
So as we all work toward our new normal, let us rethink our obsession with “busy” and use this time to care for not just our physical health, but also our mental and spiritual health. Together we can get through anything!
