even though i'm angry at agent chad michael murray for not giving peggy the proper credit, i'm actually glad he didn't
i'm glad they're showing that, if he gets a redemption arc regarding his sexism, it can't happen so quickly. people don't get over their absurdly sexist behavior so easily in real life. it takes time, effort and a lot of change in thought to get rid of what you've always genuinely believed in.
him giving her the credit like she deserved rather than taking it for himself would only make it seem like eight episodes were enough for him to start really getting better. like her saving his life in russia regardless of how much he didn't deserve it was enough to teach him that she's worthy or respect as much as any men and that they're equals.
presenting this change as something that happens so fast and easily would've done nothing good. he's still got a long way to go, clearly.
LOOK AT ALL THST MISOGYNY
yes. i was expecting her to shit on him the whole time. i WANTED her to. i wanted her to say 'and you think I'M not fit for going to the field?' or whatever. i do understand the whole ~getting pissed and guilty over getting his own tenent killed~ but a- that was his mistake in the first place (sleeping? seriously?) and b- if you can't keep your cool during critical times, you are NOT FIT for special intelligence. period. it may have been a mistake but it was STILL HIS FAULT
and it's like all of a sudden they think it's ok that he was a dick because of his ~tragic backstory~. i was SO pissed when peggy decided to go have drinks with them. i know that's what she wanted, but she's basically letting him walk away with everything he's done and said. and not just that, it is also COMPLETELY ooc, especially considering how she reacted to being promoted in the short movie.
i hope you don't mind me publishing this because yes YES to all of this. her reaction to being promoted in the one-shot was actually in character, as opposed to her very ooc behavior in the end of episode 5. maybe if his story had been actually worthy of earning some compassion but i'm sorry finding out he's a war criminal and still lets himself be called a hero for it didn't make me feel anything but anger.
tumblr is always (rightfully) criticizing when men are praised for doing nothing but treat women like humans and be respectful but as soon as agent chad michael murray finally acknowledges that peggy is one of his co-workers just like all of the male agents and invites her to join them for a drink after work i see a bunch of people glorifying the moment like he's suddenly about to join the feminist movement
#otp: i owe you a bourbon? yeah asshole you owe her a shitton of bourbons for all the times you and your pals completely dismissed her existence and it's gonna take you more than that 1 (one) demonstration of respect to make up for your previous behaviour
it's baffling how it took some people here so little to act like it's suddenly acceptable to ship peggy with the single most sexist guy out of the entire show who up until the end of episode 5 had done nothing but treat her like shit
like yeah congrats agent cmm for doing nothing more than what you were supposed to be doing all along whatsoever
