Giggaheim Podcast Episode 114
Episode 114 of The Giggaheim Podcast is here, and it’s large and in charge with a head to head battle royale between Video Games and Comics. Okay, okay…so it’s not exactly a deathmatch. Truth is, Pete and Craig had so much great stuff to share with you this week that it was enough for an entire show!
Craig, our Senior Video Gaming Editor, gets the ball rolling by diving headfirst into the murky waters of Xbox Gold Membership. Some folks are pretty peeved with recent changes: “Xbox Family Membership walks down a poorly lit sidewalk at night in the rainy town of Redmond. Suddenly, the shadow of Steve Ballmer appears, a glint of light bouncing off his polished dome. He pulls a revolver from his jacket. One, two, three shots ring out in the lonely night, and Family Membership topples to the ground.”
So maybe that’s a bit of embellishment, but maybe not. Craig makes sure to get you fully initiated by covering not only recent changes, but what we can expect going forward with the introduction of the Xbox One. What’s the pricing? What are you getting for you money? Is it a good value or should you invest in digital carrier pigeons to move your gaming data back and forth? These questions and many more are answered up front in the gaming section.
PB & J. Cookies and Milk. Video Games and Comics. Is there anything that goes better with Video Games than Comic Books? Our Comic Book Editor Pete doesn’t think so, and we tend to agree. Pete brings two great topics to the table this week, starting out with a great opportunity for fans everywhere to get involved with something wonderful. Unit 44, a work by Wes Locher and Eduardo Jimenez, comes to the world of Kickstarter and they need our help! Following the lives of Agents Gibson and Hatch, Unit 44 is all about what happens when someone forgets to pay the bill on the storage area of the famed “Area 51,” and the auctioning off of all the goodies inside that follows. No, it’s not a documentary. As you might imagine, this leads to some wacky adventures, and when aliens come calling, it’s up to our brave agents to make things right. This is a crowdfunded effort online, so head over to Kickstarter to read all the details and help make history!
In the second part of the Comics buffet, Pete introduces us to the graphic novel “Anomaly.” You would refer to this as a graphic novel in the same manner one might say the Golden Gate is simply a bridge. Anomaly is huge, both in its physical size and in the quality of its storytelling and art. On top of all that, this is a work of augmented reality! Download the app, fire it up and prepare for the adventure to be expanded into a whole new world. Simply superb stuff and Pete leaves no leaf unturned to bring you all the details.
It’s jam packed. It’s quality stuff. It’s Episode 114 of The Giggaheim Podcast. Get it in your ears today!
