World and Coinbase have launched AgentKit, a developer toolkit designed to bring verified identity into the growing ecosystem of AI agents.
The solution allows users to delegate their World ID to AI agents, effectively creating “human-backed agents” that can prove a real person is behind their actions. This approach aims to address one of the key challenges in agent-based systems — the risk of bot-driven manipulation and Sybil attacks.
By integrating with Coinbase’s x402 protocol for payments, AgentKit combines identity and transaction layers into a single framework. This enables AI agents not only to operate autonomously but also to participate in economic activity while maintaining accountability.
The broader implication is significant: as AI agents become more active in digital markets, verified identity may become a foundational requirement for trust, access, and scalability.
