Bug Boy and Blondie
Oh this is not good... This was a terrible, terrible idea... What were you thinking, Spidey?
Peter had made his way into the city after a report came through on the police scanner of a superhuman tearing up Midtown. From the sound of it, a jewelry store robbery went bad when the police arrived after the clerk pressed the silent alarm. The simple robbery turned into an all out firefight between the city's finest and the crook. The battle escalated when the robber started throwing display cases at the mob of police cruisers outside. Peter arrived just in time to see the final case crash into the door of a cruiser, taking out an officer and sending him tumbling into a newsstand. The webhead launched himself at the entrance to the store, flying through the smashed up glass door and right into the sights of his target.
"Look buddy, I know it can be frustrating trying to buy jewelry for your girlfriend, but don't you think this reaction is a little extreme?" He took in the situation as he spoke. No customers in the store but a clerk hiding behind one of the few remaining cases in the corner. Alright, gotta get him out of here and get her to safety. Peter aimed a web for the man's arm as he was headed for something to throw at him. The string wrapped around his wrist and Pete pulled as hard as he could, sending the criminal crashing right into himself. The two toppled over each other through the front window in a jumble of punches and kicks. One particularly hard punch had Peter crashing into one of the destroyed cruisers as the crook made an escape attempt. This is when Peter made the horrible decision to connect himself to the retreating criminal's back and attempt to slow him down using a combination of his own strength and body weight. Unfortunately, Pete overestimated his own strength and must've forgotten for a moment that he weighed a buck twenty soaking wet.
At first, it seemed like a good idea as Peter dug his heels into the pavement and actually managed to slow the man down a bit at the expense of about a twenty foot strip of pavement. His victory was short-lived as the man suddenly lurched forwards and set Peter off balance and stumbling forwards as he attempted to regain control of the man. Things only got worse when the powerhouse of a man tried to shake him off and Pete lost his footing entirely. He was dragged behind the crook for about three blocks before a sharp corner sent him crashing into the corner of a building where he was promptly buried in a pile of bricks.
A muffled moan escaped the rubble as Peter unburied himself. He'd lost the big guy and destroyed a small section of building but the situation wasn't necessarily hopeless. A big dude like that shouldn't be too hard to catch up with from the air, the problem was in figuring out how to take him down. Taking a moment to catch his breath and think things over, Peter brushed the dust off of his suit and took a few stiff steps out of the hole in the wall. Man, that really hurt...
"Okay... let's see... how do you stop someone twice your size and twice as strong...?"
