Today in the hallways, I bumped into a boy with spiky hair. He wasn’t as sweet as Leo -- he didn’t pick up my books or walk me to class or anything, although to be fair he wasn’t in my next class. But he did ask if I was okay, and he didn’t laugh at me, and that’s a start, isn’t it? I hate being laughed at, but people here have been so understanding of the fact that I read when I shouldn’t, or that I sometimes start daydreaming during conversations, or... Hogwarts is just so magical, isn’t it? I’ve never felt so much like I was surrounded by people like me; Jason and Jules were always just on such a different level than I was.
Anyway, I can’t believe I never paid attention to the spiky-haired boy before because it turns out that he’s in my year! He’s a Slytherin and I haven’t made any Slytherin friends yet, but he smiled at me earlier when I walked into class -- it was kind of a smirky smile, but I think his face is just like that? Maybe we could be friends; I need more of them so that Leo and Zoe don’t get totally sick of me! I should try and sit next to him in class, except I noticed that in the classes we have together, my roommate Kelsey sometimes sits with him. Maybe they knew each other before we got to Hogwarts, like Zoe and I did. If I ever make friends with either one of them, I’ll be sure to ask!
I hope the spiky haired boy keeps smiling at me. It’s nice to have a friendly face in classes, especially since scary Lauren Goyle is in the same ones as he is!
