Jumping off the “all cats can either look rlly badass and cool or just incredibly silly stupid” post because I didn’t want to add Agito screenshots to in case that would be annoying. I am putting them here instead
disclaimer: this is a hc, not speculating on what the writers intentions were.

reason under the cut!
the trans headcanon basically already works with what his character arc is. That boy is trans. I wrote a whole essay about it. It’s on ao3 xD the crux of it is: Agito starts out with a different appearance where his hair is brown, he hides most of his body in baggy clothes-, and specifically states he wants to become Enhanced(a physical transformation gained from a deal with a fae forest) in one of the first scenes he speaks in. And it’s clear this is something he’s been planning to do for a while.
Later in the movie after some events go very wrong, he actually goes through with this transformation, and eagerly. There’s a focus on Agito’s choice to modify his body in ways that feel analogous to starting testosterone, after his transformation he wears a shirt that looks extremely like a binder, and how important (reiterated multiple times by multiple characters) it was that people accept him as he is instead of trying to make him go back to “normal”. His transformation scene involves him bursting out of a pod not unlike an egg, or a butterfly from a cocoon
The other main character, Toola, who is trapped by her idealistic view of the past and of normalcy, at first is scared for and pities him after this transformation. Tells him “we can return your body to normal” and he replies that he made up his own mind to change this way. He’s even chained up by the army she’s allied with and almost executed(he escapes). But by the end of the movie Toola realizes Agito is happier this way and accepts this.
Also (stay with me here) that transformation he goes through in making a deal with powerful forest spirits, makes him part tree and at one point he sacrifices himself by fully turning into a tree. And that tree then grows a giant fruit that opens and Agito is reborn. Also the scene before that had Agito remember a memory with his dad where he tells him he is fine just as he is and he’s proud to have him as a son. He cracked my egg, so to speak. His transformed appearance never reverts.
