I need advice for handling & training a nervous dog. My komondor Zeus is 2 years old and I had written off his "scaredy cat" attitude as just puppy behavior but now I have a 100+ lbs dog who is nervous around strangers and unfamiliar dogs as well as spooks at loud noises and sudden movements. He is generally fine on our property and loves visitors but when there are lots of people and dogs(like the dog park or family function) he is a wreck and I'm very worried that he is becoming aggressive(he has been growling at strangers and dogs and has lounged at a few). He's good with walks but will not let strangers pet/come near him and is very stressed and recently aggressive at dog parks. I don't want to just not bring him to things and treat him like he is dangerous! I want to help him overcome his nervousness. I've been taking him on walks to to the dog park and giving him treats for relaxed behavior and treating him for good interactions with dogs and people and I want to know if I'm on the right track and know what else I can do for Zeus. Also, suggestions on how to correct/respond to aggressive behavior such as growling and lounging? I've been pulling him way and telling him "no" and sometimes make him lay down or sit but I'm not sure if that stuff is any good... please help!
