Okay. I was not expecting an Ah-Puch character arc. But I like this. He's only survived his trap from the last book by sharing a soul bond or something with Zane. In his worlds: "And sadly, your pathetic human life was the only glimpse of hope I had." He's managed to send a small sliver of his essence to meet with Zane, but he's manifesting as an old, decrepit man begging for help. Not as the charming and manipulative god of death he was last book.
So this is getting really interesting. He's now behaving like comic relief. He's turned into Set from the Kane Chronicles. The Big Bad of the first book, but who becomes a silly yet still intimidating character in time for book number two. I've only read a few scenes with this newly reformed ah-puch, but i like it. I just hope I don't end up eating this praise. If he becomes the big bad in book three, I will be surprised. So I hope we don't go that path. But I'll try to read it anyways, even if that happens.
