#Ahmadrezafree #Repost @crimedim_upo with @repostapp ・・・ Married, with two children, Ahmadreza Djalali, Iranian medical doctor 45 years old, completed his PhD studies at the Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and moved to Italy, where for 4 years he worked as a senior scientist at the Research Center in Emergency and Disaster Medicine of the University of Eastern Piedmont (CRIMEDIM) in Novara, Italy. During his last visit in Iran in April 2016, Ahmad was arrested and has been kept in isolation in Evin prison, Tehran, accused of being a spy by the Iranian authorities. All pleas and a 2-month hunger strike have been to no avail; he has been forced to sign a confession, and is now condemned to death and will be executed in less than 2 weeks! His only 'fault' was to work alongside researchers from Italy, Israel, Sweden, United States and the Middle East, to improve the operational capacity of hospitals in countries suffering from extreme poverty and affected by disasters and conflicts. While Ahmad’s case is different to that of Giulio Regeni, who was brutally murdered one year ago in Egypt while carrying out a research project, their commitment to their research formed the core of their work. We have to defend the freedom of researchers, wherever they maybe and we are pleading with the Iranian authorities for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the death penalty for Ahmadreza Djalali. And yes, there is still hope to stop his execution, which is a contravention of his rights as a human being, so please help us by: 1) Sharing this post as widely as possible across your networks to make our voice reach newspapers, TV and radio. 2) Sign and submit the following letter https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-GDWmYjdma7SzU1V3pyUENsMEk/view to: - Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei http://www.leader.ir/en/letter - The Iranian ambassar in Italy [email protected] #crimedim #freeahmad #justice #humanrights
