Hot Take: I think we should normalize the term "AI Collage," IE the use of image-gen tools combined with either conventional techniques of collage/photomanipulation, or more esoteric means such as inpainting/outpainting or combining it with one's non-AI work mixed-media-style.

Because like, firstly, I feel like there's a fundamental difference between the whole "flood of gens" method everyone talks about with the tool and, say, painstakingly assembling a comic with 70 to 80 gens combined by hand per single page.

Like, I'd go so far as to argue that the grand majority of good work using AI image gen has elements of that, or montage which is basically the video-based form of that.

But secondly, and more crucially, normalizing that as an idea would normalize de-anonymizing the people who use those tools as artisans.

Which means it'd be easier to demand they get equal pay/equal time to other forms of artist, which is a way we can prevent megacorps from using AI image gen to undercut other artists.

And then we can avoid what happened with CGI, Photoshop, limited animation...
