Ali Farka Toure - Ai Du
Ali Farka Touré & Ry Cooder - Ai Du
What would a good pro-African music blog be without some Farka Toure guitar riffs? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
This is Malian music icon Ali Farka Toure in ‘Ai Du’ from his album ‘Talking Timbuktu’ released in 1994.
Ali Farka Toure est l’un des plus grands guitaristes qui nous vient du Mali et cette chanson est faite dans un bon rythme Blues qui a des origines Africaines; on le sait tous. ‘Ai du’.
Nuf said. It’s probably sung in Bambara but I’ll check again. If there is any Malian brother or sister of mine who wants to correct me please do. Enjoy!
Remains one of my favourite guitar tracks. Those strings sound like they’re pushing their way through sludgy mud and I love every bit of it. “Ali Ibrahim “Farka” Touré. One of the African continent’s most internationally renowned musicians. Touré’s tradition is often quoted as constituting ‘the DNA of the blues’ “
